Another great new interview, this one audio. After a few minutes discussing While We're Young the rest is about Beastie Boys and Adam Horovitz. Some great new insights:

Good interview.

But the part where Adrock is saying Hello Nasty is the one that they tried a whole lot of different stuff and he plays Body Moving as an example. Come on.

I don't see how that's a bad example. That and Picture This were both heavily calypso/bossa nova influenced.

Great interview by the way.

I know right. I was waiting for And Me, or Picture This, or, my favorite, Instant Death.

That was awesome, thanks for sharing. Man I can't wait to hear the music he has been making. No rush of course, just anytime between 6 months to 14 years from now would be fine.

He sounds lost. He sounds like he wants to get the band happening again.

It's weird that he mentions getting paid. They can still tour and make money if it comes down to it.

It was always that way for them from what I have heard. I think that is because they dress (and behave) quite normally in day-to-day life and in their videos they were sometimes disguised or displayed outrageous behaviour. Not sure how this explains being rarely recognised in the early LTI days though. Perhaps people would recognise them, but be too 'scared' to approach them back in the day (i.e., no one wants to get 'smacked with a gold finger knuckle')? I also remember people confusing the three of them early on, so that could get embarrassing to go up and call one of them MCA when it was Mike D (and vice versa). Once again fear of the gold finger knuckle smack. For such a huge band I am also surprised that people still do not recognise them and mispronounce their names. I guess when you are the coolest band in the world, kids are scared to approach you. I think even Jimmy Fallon was terrified going up to them and spoke a bunch of rubbish to Yauch in a car park back in the day, lol

When I was in Manhattan once, I saw Yauch on the subway. I didn't approach him. New York rule #1... don't approach people on New York subways.

It was cool to see him up close though.
