W!O!W!
i'm like 8 mins in and MMM... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YO!!!!
i had to pause and write something... um, it's really one of the best interviews i've ever seen!!! the man can't go wrong.. he's like a time piece and compass.. always there... on point! you can tell he's a Beastie that has just got himself and things figured out well! Word up!!! i respect that dedication and gratitude... and Strombo seems to ask cool stuff and give way for MMM to just BAM it ... sooo inspiring! always on time! He makes it an art for every sake!
It really is a dream come true for everyone!!!!!!! i just love'm... professional.. confessional.. true north... directional...
you're gonna hate me for saying, but i have to get it off my chest! Yauch's death wasn't just wrong, it was criminal!!! is it not so that we have (and have always known since the dawn of fucking time) known (by the government and big pharma) that cannabis and other natural plants and substances can kill cancerous cells and tumors.. not to mention other diseases!?!?!? there should be a national class action where all these crooks go to jail and everyone with a loved one who died from cancer should be paid!!!! liquidate big pharma and give people a chance at life. i know money doesn't cure everything, but it's time to set the record straight and stop all this undue and unjustified dying/ murder!!!
i'm really fucking sorry to say it but i could tell today that his passing has still not fully hit me yet.. i really don't think i'll ever get over it... for goodness sake's. some people ya just want to die for hte chance to see them again!
anyway, i have to be.. i mean even though we're living in a very neo nazi like, racist and corrupted world and america's leadership have us all but fucked... i'm still proud to be an american with Beasties doin their thing!!!
BIG UPS
and love to you alll!

Thanks for that, cAm. Excellent interview. Strombo is the best, he knows his shit.
I just wanted to mention that the live set MMM did is the next video and it's not to be missed! It's a Beastie Boys mix!!, and it's incredible. I'm burning it to CD.
At the end of the interview I was sad that the performance wasn't included, and then 10 seconds later when I was about to click away, the next video auto started, thankfully

I took it mean he was the first to make them like the way he did. He was on some other shit with 'em.

I was reflecting on this interview...one thing I don't really get - if that's the right word - is his HN involvement. Three MCs is obviously there for all to see...but I can't recall that much obvious scratching elsewhere. He was pretty vague yet borderline boastful about his overall contribution - it's not like he did the beats or anything!
(just to be clear I am a fan of MMM)

If I remember right his involvement with Hello Nasty was limited. I'm pretty sure you've got Adam and Adam on DJ duties in many places on that album as well.

On a quasi-related note, Strombo had Sean Lennon on his show last week.
He had this to say about the Beasties:
"I call them the Beastles, they're my generation's Beatles"
Not sure when exactly it is said, but it's the June 7th show if anyone wants to listen:

There is a ton of little bits of scratching all over the record. And you can tell what's Adam/Adam and what is MMM (I think) because of teh level of sophistication in the cuts.
At somepoint, somehwhere (maybe on the anthology) they said that Adrock and Mario C had about 10 tracks that they wanted MMM to come do his thing on. He did 'em up and then they had the idea to do 3MC&1DJ.

First one is sneakin out the hospital, then shame in your game, 3 MCs and grasshopper unit. Then unite. I don't have access to the liner notes but I think that's it.
I'd like to hear all the stuff they did. The slow n low routine/remix was dope.

I love him as well and agree with you,, he always seems to exaggerate. maybe he's not but it still comes off as bragadocious. there was an interview where he said he came up with the setlists for their shows

Thanks, unfortunately I would not buy without listening to it first given the BBoys mixed reputation for b-side quality.....
