Hell yea :p , I've been in touch with Fredo Ortiz himself lately,and if you know he was the last former percussionist of the Beasties.

Not gonna happen anytime too soon since he is in South Africa now on tour,but sometime this month or next I'm gonna air a show with him. It will definitely be like a tribute to the Beastie Boys! :D

I'm even breaking down the interview into 2 parts. One is for my regular show called Lava Lamps & 8-Track Theatre,and the other is for an old school hip hop mix special I'm working on which will also feature Fresh Kid Ice of 2 Live Crew lol.Both will air on Free Radio Santa Cruz 101.3FM and online. I've even been working on my own mashups of Beastie Boys acapellas and gangsta rap beats.

i know there is alot more knowledge about Fredo than me. He came to town and held a drum workshop for kids then put on a show friday that I took my wife to. I did walk next to him but never said anything. He was hugging old ladies and being a perfect guest. Also put on a good show, as part of the drumming group. in New Mexico.

Anyways just an update. Spoke to Fredo briefly yesterday on FB and he told me he's gonna call me when he gets back home from the Gorgol Bordhello Euro tour! Already spoke with Fresh Kid Ice also.

Turns out they might not be on the same show afterall,but I have been working on a mix which includes both Beasties and 2 Live Crew..

Just an update....

My special episode is still being produced and will air for sure next Saturday.At the last minute it didn't air last due to Fredo being tied up with a few things last week. Still keeping in touch with him tho,haven't got down the interview yet,but will very soon.

He will appear on my regular radio show as well,most likely alongside the creator of the Pitfall game for Atari 2600. I'll keep y'all posted. ;)

Fredo's been a cool follow on social media lately, with all of his recent musical projects, tours, and music videos.

On a personal note, he has gone through the emotional roller coaster of losing his mother recently and then seeing the birth of his daughter within a short frame of time later.
