Venom are from Newcastle question

I know that the thrash metal band Venom are, in fact, from Newcastle, but what's up with the shoutout to that fact on Dedication? Also, if I'm not mistaken, on the lyrics sheet for the vinyl version of Hello Nasty, the very last line of the lyrics on the album (after Instant Death) is simply "Venom are from Newcastle." I might be mis-remembering that last part, but I think I"m right (don't have my copy with me).

I listened to the Hello Nasty commentary and they mention Venom being from Newcastle, but just sort of laugh it off. Was this just some inside joke that we'll never know about, or is there some Beastie/Venom story?
