The trailer for the new Star Trek movie came out this morning and it plays Sabotage throughout virtually the entire thing.

I have enjoyed these movies for what they are. Are they good? Not really but they are entertaining as hell.

Looks like a fun action flick with some lazers and explosions.

the first one of late was awesome.. it continues to give me goose bumps and make my hair stand on end ... i love when your favorite movie plays your favorite song and i'll bet it's with justice!!!!

right on right on... can't wait!

star wars could also soundtrack 'sabotage' like the scenes with the supreme chancellor (and did samuel l jackson really die? wtf).... not really... then again... it's just a brilliantly themed, tuned in concept for today's intelligent middle aged mind. ish is sabotaged all over the place. know waht i'm sayin? don't get me started!

Clearly the JJ Abrams connection was involved. I wonder if there are any other beastie nods in this one.

Star Trek had Sabotage.
Star Trek Into Darkness had Body Moving.

I wonder if they are keeping up the trend with the new one or if they are using it just for the trailer?

I would bet it's the latter, Micodin. I doubt it's the music being played in the world of the film during that scene. But it would be cool to see Sabotage as an actual plot point like in the first one...

Cue the "I thought they don't use their songs in advertising" crowd that don't get how the band still lends their songs to film and tv projects, if they support said project.

That was cool. Thanks for sharing.

On an unrelated note, I do not think of songs appearing in movies as equivalent to advertising for some product (e.g., car or a beer brand). These things just seem fundamentally different to me in terms of artistic integrity (i.e., being associated with an artistic project of some sort vs. helping someone sell something unrelated to art as its primary purpose). I know some people disagree, but I think the counter argument that they are the same thing is a more challenging.

Just saw this quote from the director in regards to Sabotage:

"It’s in the DNA of this canon. It was in the ’09 Trek, and we went through different iterations of the teaser and I wanted to make sure whatever here is using all the elements from the film. It’s been a part of this Kirk’s journey and so I felt it was very organic, and it will ultimately be in the finished film."
