"Mike D from the Beastie Boys was duly impressed J.J. Abrams gave an oblique shout-out to his group in the new 'Star Wars.'
The director named character Ello Atsy after the Beastie Boys album "Hello Nasty," and his helmet appears to have "Born to Ill" emblazoned on it.
It also seems another character, BB-8, may be a vague reference to the number of albums the group has recorded."

Rey is not Luke's sister. Han solo is still alive.

I don't think the BB-8 is a Beastie reference. I think it's just a catchy droid name.
Also: LTI, PB CYH, IC, HN, TT5B & HSCP2. That's 7. What am I missing?
I just can't count the mix-up as an album even though it technically is one (and I like the mix up).

The Mix-Up is an album and therefore counted (y) can it win "album of the year"? If it can't, it isn't an album.

It won a Grammy for best instrumental album, it's an album. It was their 7th out of 8 studio albums, produced and recorded entirely in house.
Don't see how this can even be up for debate

i meant kylo ren's sister... still no?
and how does he possibly come back from that unless he's an apparition in the force...

The Mix Up is definitely a studio album. Number 7. Of course it counts.
Aglio e Olio is an EP. And a great one at that!

I actually did say that it was an album in my initial comment, I'm not debating that. I was just saying, in my opinion, that it just doesn't seem like it's part of the core discography to me. I'm sure it's because it lacks real vocals.
I might somehow be an inferior fan because I think that. Oh well....

When han was encased in carbonite, his molecules became indestructible. The lightsabre did not kill him. As ren fought ray outside, chewie went and scooped up han. When they land on the planet with the rebels u never c the face of the body chewie is carrying. Watch the scenes again and u will c

Word
For me, it is important to give credit where it's due as it solidified the legacy of their musicianship. Lyrics or not, they spent that entire era of their career honing those skills together as a unit, and out of it was born an amazing tour which ultimately ended up being their last.
I imagine them writing and recording the new songs which made their way onto the Mix Up, and at the same time rehearsing their catalog in the "instrumental" format as we all got to see live as part of the Gala Event tour...

It doesn't feel like part of their core discography to me and I think there are true fans that feel that way too.
Not disrespecting them by saying that. But whatever, agree to disagree.

Well, sorry y'all feel that way, because it is.
Han Solo is dead

That is one of the most comic-bbok insane theories I have heard. Han Solo is Weapon X.

It won a grammy

Aaah, it's like a trip down memory lane and made me smile really wide. Do I dare to disagree with the "true fans"? :p
I have a Mix Up LP. It's an album by any sensible definition. It is part of the canon.

It sounds like that guy acknowledged the mix up was an album from the start.
And somehow that comment spawned many finger wagging comments arguing against a point that was never actually made, lol. Message boards are funny.

That guy being you, in your initial post, asked which one of 8 albums was missing and used the qualifier "technically"
So what was that guy's original question, then?
Message boards are funny.
Not this one. This is a serious forum, for serious fans.
If you're after madcap japes, shits and giggles then may I suggest you head over to the KOЯN boards.

Are qualifiers not ok here?
