Has anyone ever heard the Paul's Boutique demos? A friend of mine just gave me a copy of an 11 track demo album. It has a version of Johnny Ryall with just Mike D rapping. It's pretty raw the whole thing.

Those are pretty good. I think you missing a track though. Go to the Boots section of beastiemixes.com. You can get it there along with some other great stuff.

Speaking of PB demos... This item showed up on ebay a few days ago. Seems pretty interesting:

"Auction is ONLY (1) for the gold color maxwell cassette tape on the bottom. It is Pauls Boutique unheard unreleased mixes with incredible samples and mixes. Some of the songs like " Shake your Rump" are slower with different samples. Crazy mixes, breaks and beats! Cassette belonged to EZ Mike of the Dust Brothers. The sound is professional and very clear. Prob the only cassette tape like this around and I'm sure not intended for release. Recorded at Matt Dikes home studio. No vocals are on the recordings yet. The cassette has been in a storage locker for all those years. If you are a Beastie Nut, this is for you. This is 100% real deal. Come take a listen if you are in LA. Rare as it gets. One side of the cassette is all Beastie(Paul's Boutique) other side is a mix of rap artists. The other cassettes might be for sale later: Beastie Boys jamming and talking, tone loc and more."

That ebay thing sounds shady as shit. I don't doubt that there are a bunch of tapes just sitting around in people's basements with stuff on it that we'd flip out about, but you'd have to be insane to plop down $5000 for a tape without so much as a link to an online sample. It'd take 5 seconds for any big Beastie fan to figure out if it was legit or not. Even then, if someone just slowed down a few songs and threw some samples in there, that'd be a nice little scam to pull off.

Also, to OP, I also have a 12 track version of the PB demos, so you likely are missing one. Although one of the tracks (Stop That Train demo) is just the "Caught in the Middle of a 3-Way Mix" b-side from the Shadrach single, so it's not really all that rare. 33% God is also basically exactly the same. But my two favorite demo cuts are the two Car Thief versions. That song was amazing enough, but now I have 2 more versions to listen to.

I have this fantasy where soe non-Beastie fan who worked in recording back in the day just has this big ass box of rare and unheard stuff, and he just unloads it online some day. As Adrock said "unreleased stuff in unreleased for a reason: it usually sucks." But fuck it - I wanna hear it anyway.
