What gives you the right to mock whatever Mike is doing to keep busy and doing what makes him happy?

Stop being a spiteful selfish prick and let the man live.

You need to stay on your meds, your psychiatrist prescribed them for a reason.

That's your response? A mental health joke? No wonder you're a miserable fuck. Your negative energy is poisonous. Get your shit together.

I wonder if some people want to keep Beastie Boys in an unchanging time capsule representing their fave period of creativity? I have certainly been like that in the past. For me now it simply does not matter. There is nothing any of the surviving members could do to destroy their proven legacy. Surely there are things they could do that would make people cringe or feel embarrassment, but I think their past overall body of work stands on its own. I would prefer them to create things that may fail than hide away resting on their past greatness. Surely creativity is better for their souls regardless of the critical or popular accolades that may or may not come their way.

It's sad that people will turn their backs on a band that gave 30 us years of brilliant music, videos, tours, charity events and so much more.

It's shity that "so-called-fans" feel they are entitled to bitch and moan about whatever the surviving members are doing presently.

They gave us 30 years and lost their best friend in the end. Let Mike & Adam do whatever the fuck they want. The Beastie Boys are not coming back. Deal with it. I'll support whatever they want to do artistically as long as they are creating and enjoying life.

Nobody is saying that Mike D can't or shouldn't create new music. I really don't know where you're getting that from.
But he is not immune from criticism either. I don't think his past side projects have been good, that's my opinion. I have a right to it and I'm not being a hateful troll for stating it. I genuinely hope his new project is at least decent but that skepticism has been earned as far as I'm concerned.

I never once said that you said Mike D can't or shouldn't create new music. I called you out on your negativity. Difference.

Saying shit like "It would be nice if it isn't awful" is trollish behavior.

Saying shit like "You need to stay on your meds, your psychiatrist prescribed them for a reason." is being a fuckboy.

That entire record is a classic. I didn't like the second one as much.

I always liked this DJ Shadow collaboration (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG0Q2hEPAz4) as well. Even though he bit that Greg Nice flow haha. The drums go hard in this one.

Mike has gotten way better over the years. I liked his rhymes on HSCP2 more than any other record.

If we are talking about Beastie Boys albums now instead of side projects, I would say that lyrically he peaked on CYH. I do think he was the most consistent of the 3 on TT5B though (their only mediocre album but whatever, he still gets props for it).

[Intro]
I feel like shit

[Verse 1]
I met a man called Terry
He told me a joke
The punchline was dirty
And he was a dirty bloke
I handed him a dollar
So he would go away
He shook my hand and wished me well
And went about his day
[Verse 2]
Confessed my sins to Tony
A man from Tennessee
Who drove me to the city
Took me from A to B
Cruising through the desert
Smoking through the night
Eyes on the horizon
Into the morning light

[Chorus]
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The stories that you share
Remaining in your chair
The people that you meet
Walking down the street

[Verse 3]
I walked into a sex shop
The lady had a beard
She talked me through the products
Thats's when it all got weird
Performed a demonstration
Showed me all the toys
Sold me a bottle of pheromone
That works for girls and boys

[Chorus]
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The stories that you share
Remaining in your chair
The people that you meet
Walking down the street

[Chorus/Bridge]
Oh
Walking down the street
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The stories that you share
Remaining in your chair
The people that you meet
Walking down the street

[Verse 4]
Listen, I know a man called Michael
He hails from NYC
Now he lives in Malibu
In a mansion by the sea
Production is his game now
He called my friend Laurie
He used to be a Beastie Boy
But now he works for me

[Chorus]
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The people that you meet
Walking down the street
The stories that you share
Remaining in your chair
The people that you meet
When you are walking down the street

Great track.

The production on this new Slaves LP is awesome. I really like the raw power / energy. Would love to see Mike D start a new band of some sort with DIY raw sounds like the Slaves LP.

i made it all the way through.

at times I was in to it, at times I was thinking of jumping ahead.

I was at work so not the best listening situation.

My first reaction after about 30 seconds was .... I like it.

Ill be sure to pump it through a real system later for a better test.
