The sign would've pointed you in the right direction! I agree that's a loss for beastie boys fans, as for the rest of the city it was merely a neighborhood directional wayfinder. my guess is a classic case of NIMBY from the folks in the gentrified neighborhood-they didn't want their precious village infiltrated from the folks from the other side of the bridge.
