Man, Jimmy Spencer’s Super Rhymes has to be one of the most influential songs for them early in their career.
Listen to how many lines they took or for how much they’ve tried to copy the flow in that performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkGLco0tGqc
They mentioned in the book (in the Mix Tape, Hip Hop Goes Downtown, Chapter)
“I wanted to Sound like Jimmy Spicer When he first started Rapping” -AH
They’ve sampled in the OG intergalactic and De La Soul Squat collaboration.
Here are a few other lines and cadences they took from the song:
- Bust out your wife - savoir faire
- coupe deville
- Too Sweet To Be Sour
- Buggaloo flu
- Kick of Your Shoes and Relax your feet
- Do Whatcha Like
- So Rocked the party so viciously

Kate Schellenbach posted part of this a few months back. Hard to believe this ended up being one of the most influential rap crews in history! Yauch is definitely the best of the 4 but he's still no Kool Moe Dee (at least not at this time in history!) I think I might rank Kate as a close second. They sure did polish up though! I wonder how impromptu this was, what with the cheat sheets.
The other notable thing is they're rapping over the same Trouble Funk sample used on "Beastie Groove" 2 years later with some of the same rhymes.
