Who is Soul II Soul?

I thought you'd never ask! Soul II Soul's song "Fairplay" was sampled by EPMD on their song, "So Wat Cha Sayin", which was sampled by the Beastie Boys on "Pass the Mic". So, I guess there's a major connection there.
