"Good people...so the documentary comes out on on Thursday at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. Following that, Adam, Mike & Spike are going to do a Reddit AMA to answer any questions you may still have. see you there? - the management"
Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NrpOwlNuR/
Has anyone done one of these before? Is there a technique to getting your questions answered? And if so, is there any questions beyond the basic shit that we really want answers to?
Can maybe pool together some really good questions and a few of us can ask the same ones?
Not that I am expecting any serious answers, although they have seemed to been a bit more serious on this press run then in the past.
I would really like to know a little bit more info about what happened to them and Hurricane and Mario C, although, I feel that might be too personal or they won't answer it.
On a side note, It would be nice if they posted stuff like this on their actual site, but times have changed and I guess instagram is the best medium to get updates.

I’m old. I have heard of Reddit but have no idea what sort of site it is. 😂 I’m working all day Thursday so it may be a wee bit late for me. Hope you all get some good questions in!

I’m assuming we have to have a reddit account to ask questions? Do we have to have one to view q&a? I have not been on reddit. I am also old. Lol. Hoping someone with experience here can bring me up to speed. Thnx

it's a PR blitz, I would ask a question framed around the book or making of the movie if you want yours to get chosen or answered.

Of course it's all PR being related.
Questions relating to stories in the book will probably get the most traction.
That being said, any of you have some questions from the book that you want answered? This is the opportunity to do so. Although no matter what the question I'm expecting answers relating to an obscure 70's reference, an inside joke, sandwiches and submarines.

I know nothing about reddit either, but I do belive the link is reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/ and the format is Ask me Anything
You’ve waited patiently and the day has finally come!
Watch Beastie Boys Story tonight on the Apple TV app at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. Then join the band and Spike Jonze on Reddit for the AMA After Party at 8pm PT / 11pm ET on r/hiphopheads.

I went for it! :D
“Mike, Adam, did you guys ever manage to retrieve Hot Sauce Committee Part One from that boxcar in Montana?”
Not expecting a serious reply (if even a reply at all) but let’s see if Adam can add to his tale regarding his only copy of the album!

it was a classic beastie boys interview. Super entertaining but not entirely focused on the question. But amazing all around. Just great to have content.

Questions were posted to reddit and they were fielding them via livestream with Spike. As stated, not too productive but fun. They called Jonah Hill and Biz called them too.

Looks like they uploaded the individual text comments to the reddit thread - someone had to type out them talking which I’m sure was fun.
Man, I’m pretty happy. They answered 2 of my questions... probably as close as I’ll get to my bucket list of meeting them one day - I’ll take it.

I haven't got a working computer right now, can't even watch You Tube on the little one as it turns itself off after a couple of minutes :( Should've repaired it already in the winter....
And the show was on at 2 am and I had to get up at 5. I hope that somebody could ri p it for future reference...

Here are the questions I posted at separate times
you guys have been talking about releasing some some stuff from the vault for years now. Is this actually going to happen?
Lot of people would love to hear the "Jerry Lewis" or a complete version of "Desperado"
And we will pay $$$ for it too. Even recordings of you guys playing basketball or fucking around in the dungeon like you did with bonus Ill Communication and Hello Nasty material.
Us fans are hungry and would pay for more material.
Would love to have a compilation of some half baked jams, demos or unreleased songs.
Also, a proper live album would be nice. I remember you guys recorded some live stuff in Chicago and Detroit for the Mix Up Tour back in '07. Anything ever happen or will happen with that?
Mike D
I know you're crazy into surfing now. Best or favourite place you have surfed? Have you check out the surfing scene in Ireland?
Ad-Rock
One of my favourite chapters from the book is checking the your story checking the phone book to go crate digging in some small town while on tour. It inspired me to start my record collecting tour in Toronto.
What is hands down the best record shop you've ever been to?
Your favourite record shop?
And the best city besides New York for record stores?
In the book and the book you shit on "What goes around comes around"
I actually don't mind the song so much, why do you hate it so much?
Mic Controller Adam = MCA
Adam Rocks = Ad Rock
Mike Diamond = Mike D
I know it's pretty self explanatory on how the names are connected, but how did you decide to go with those names or the process? I know you were pretty influenced by Rick Rubin who was influenced by pro wrestling, was there a chance you could have gone by Rowdy Roddy Diamond, or Hulk Horovitz?
ps thank you for choosing the names you did.
Whatever happened with Hurricane & Mario C? Everything good?

I think they are still just holding onto that story, like Mike hitting his head and thinking he was Country Mike.

So when Adrock starts talking about HSCPT1 being lost, saying if they find it they will put it out.He looks like he telling the truth, it looks like even someone like spike does'nt know if its the truth or not.
saying how can guys in their 30s loose an album.
But then the boxcar thing again.
Why would he say if they find it, they will put it out? That does'nt sound like a joke

I don't know. It totally sounds like the album they made on the Submarine to me.

The songs that would have made up a separate album from the HSC sessions... I mean I would be staggered if they were actually lost. A lost album in the traditional sense perhaps, but otherwise just standard B-Boys humour.
More to the point, and it's been said before, but that material is of far more interest to me than endless jams that were left on the cutting room floor for a reason.

Plus, if they had a potential-massive-hit in HSCP1, I assume they would have re-recorded it. I mean, they always have been lazy people, but I doubt they could lose a "Sabotage" or "Intergalactic" and do nothing about it.

Me too. It's possible but would be extremely reckless for them to put everything on one harddrive, with no backup, and lose everything. I would be really, really odd for any professional musician to do that.

The raw material probably wouldn't be all that great, but if they got in there (especially with Mario) and started chopping stuff up, layering it, etc., it could be a goldmine. That's pretty much how Check Your Head and Ill Communication were made. The only thing now is that they couldn't record new lyrics. They probably have some options though. I guess it depends on how much effort they put into the tracks.

I agree. I have a VERY hard time believing they had the entire album only on one hard drive that they were travelling with. I don't believe that they wouldn't have copies back at the studio. That is why I think this is just typical Beastie Boys misdirection.
Part 2 was Part 1, but they missed the deadline, which I always just assumed was because they were waiting for Yauch to heal. We haven't seen any other track names or info for what would have been part 2, except Bundt Cake, which was left off when part 1 became part 2.

And even if they did loose it, I am sure they would be able to recreate and re-record some of the material. Perfect example is Paul McCartney and what he did with the Band on The Run Album

This is always what I have believed. Just like Ad-Rock in the book said about the samples. People were not getting the joke.
As for Bundt Cake, it could have been taken out or maybe was amalgamated with another song.
For instance the bit at the end of Say It could have possibly been Bundt Cake
just like the bit at the end of B-Boys in the Cut became it's own separate track the Larry Routine
