Gonna be priced out of this one...was it this expensive the first time round?

Nice JJ t-shirt though.

Yeah I don’t remember it being that expensive the first time and I was always mad at myself for not grabbing it. Now I’m more bummed cause I can’t justify dropping that much on it when it’s essentially things I already own.

I bought all 3 box sets when they came out and I think they were around $65 each. I know prices are generally up across the board, but given that these are reselling for $300 these days, I'm sure they figured why not just make some of that money up front.

So there’s hope for IC and HN… I got CYH when it came out but I was too broke at the time to keep up. I’d definitely get them this time. I feel like they were similarly expensive when they came out? Or at least like $100. I’m also in Canada so I might just be thinking in CAD.

Looks like it's sold out already. Not listed on the site anymore

Edit: It's still listed on the US shop, but not in the UK / Europe shop anymore

Edit2... It's not sold out. See below...LMAO

Hey, you're right man. I clicked on the banner on top and the box wasn't there, but I should have scrolled down. My bad!

The original box set (which I own as well) has a lenticulair cover photo on the inner box. Will the repress feature this as well?

I think only Ill Communication was lenticular.

I wonder if this is a repress or just left over copies. These stuck around for a long time, then went away, them I remember they had more. I wonder if they had a bunch in storage or something.

Just my guess, but I'd assume it's a true reissue. They're letting people pre-order up to four copies, and since the original run was supposedly limited to 2000 copies, they'd probably sell out of any backstock in a few minutes.

I remember the same thing as you though. I missed the boat on the CHY box set at first and the were gone from the website. Then one day they were back, I bought one, and it was immediately sold out. Mine showed up a couple weeks later with a big dent in one of the corners, so I'm guessing one fell behind a shelf and someone found it and put it up on the site for sale.

Still blows my mind how long the IC and HN box sets were available. There will still copies for sale through the store as late as 2017 I think.

It will likely never happen as they have had two hits collections since, but if we’re talking vinyl reissues I’d really like the Anthology to get another run.

Not to make everyone sad, but can you imagine how amazing an "Anthology 2.0" would be if Yauch were alive? I remember watching an interview with Adrock and Mike talking about how Yauch would made made Beastie Boys Book and subsequent tour a complete extravaganza and all that; I'm sure a second anthology would be off the wall. I imagine a lot of self-roasting about how they're having a second anthology, the cover art could be them wearing the same "old people clothes" except they'd actually be old people, etc.

But yeah anyway, that'd be awesome, but I agree it's pretty unlikely.

I think it Yauch was still around we’d have a 4K video anthology and AIFST would have a criterion release and there’d probably be a bunch of other off the wall releases no one else would think of. And yeah, the book would have been different and we probably would have some kind of second anthology. I feel like most of the cool supplemental stuff they put out was 90% him.

Well, we're on the second round of delays due to issues in "global vinyl production delays." I'm starting to wonder if this reissue is going to be noticeably different from/worse than the original collector's edition. If the records are being delayed because of issues in production, does that mean.... they aren't produced yet? I mean I get it - they probably put them up for pre-sale to gauge how many to make, then they'd move ahead with pressing them. But if the records haven't been made, and if they're planning to pump them all out at once and try to get them out the door.... I dunno. Seems like a recipe for quality control disaster, but then again I don't know shit about how records are normally pressed.

It'll be different in the sense that it is a repress. It probably won't be different or worse in the sense that it will be a reproduction of the first one, but without the potential bonus 7" and the inflation adjusted price. I know vinyl can be done on the cheap, but that isn't what this is. This seems more like gauging interest and then filling orders with a quality product. The only reason I bought any is in the hopes that they would carry forward the bonus 7" tradition. There was a nice little discussion between myself and other board members where we weighed out our complete opened sets and determined the exact weight of a release that had no 7" versus one that did down to the gram. Maybe you should dig up that convo.

Weighing box sets to predict whether there's a bonus 7" inside..... this is exactly the type of shit I come to this message board for!

I also think you're right that - especially with a release as expensive as this - they'd want to gauge interest first and then press vinyl later (I actually think a few artists I buy have done this because their pre-sales are waaaay before the release date). I dunno, as someone who does pretty crappy work when he's rushed, I guess I just projected my own tendencies onto others!

Also, quasi-personal question since you're here: we gonna see any new listings from you on ebay? I'm one of your... let's not use the word ebay stalker...let's just say I get notifications when another one of your gems pops up.
