That was fun but the show description was BS. They talk New Music, New Film?

So the new music is the 25th anniversary of Hello Nasty release and new film is the doc from 5 years ago. Cool.

i'm not a shrink, but when that dude called in and begged them to play live again i sensed a warming up to possibly doing more. that can mean a million things of course but the only thing i would rule out is actually performing live as the beastie boys.

Agree that was fun.

Adrock is much funnier than Mike, right? I mean we knew this, but sometimes Mike can be the funny one in the interviews. Adrock was on in this one.

mike has played the straight man ever since Yauch passed. good cop to Adrock’s bad cop for certain.

When is an interviewer gonna PUSH the question of is there a potential release date for the instrumental stoner jams archive album and the whole other album from the HSC sessions?

It bugs me that fans don’t respect or get that they made it clear that Beastie Boys will never perform live again. And for that dude to suggest someone else do Yauch’s parts was disrespectful.

I think some fans always wanted closure- A Tribe Called Quest got their SNL tribute and De La Soul got the Roots tribute on The Tonight Show. Both were done differently and respectfully- Tribe with recorded Phife lyrics and De La Soul with Tariq from Roots performing Trugoy’s parts - both very recent after their founding members had passed away. It just wouldn’t be the remaining Beastie Boys style or brand to go that way.

That ship has long sailed for Beastie Boys and their fans, and we got what we got- “the Last Gig” at Bonnaroo, the book and its live tour, the movie, the fan led movements (MCA Day, etc), Adam Yauch Park, and now Beastie Boys Square.

I’m sure they are going to throw us a bone every few years to keep their legacy alive. That’s enough to keep me happy.

The "bone" better be the unreleased "Jerry Lewis" song. I've been waiting years to hear it. :D

It sounded like Adrock is open to doing music with Mike but Mike is not really wanting to. Or maybe Mike would think about it but just wants to have the discussion in private. Anyway if they did something it would have to be a non beastie project. Something new. Maybe they could remix the odd beastie tune when they played live. Anyway it would be cool if they did some weirdness together lol. But maybe Mike is just done and prefers his current lifestyle..

They recently remixed ‘Praise you’ and it sounded pretty tight.

Edit: my bad. Came out an age ago, can sorta remember it but I’m just fronting probably.

Carry on.
