I think there should be a Street Team sign-up starting up at least in April for the new record to promote it..guerilla marketing tactics..posters, stickers, etc. maybe Parra from Grand Royal could run it again.

I can cover the Southeast (Norfolk-VA Beach..also Richmond, VA) part of Virginia and Northeast North Carolina in the U.S. as I did for ATDI, Nullset, BS2000, Scapegoat Wax etc.

Let's hope it becomes a reality. any other ideas?

The last time we got two packages.... er at least I did. I think the first was little stickers that said Hello Nasty in the shape/style of those party introduction stickers... er.r. more exactly just like the "Hi, I'm... Slim Shady" symbol.

The second (errr maybe first) package was one of thin paper posters and cardboard ones. I kept one of the cardboard ones (its at work) and a few of the stickers but put the rest around town... some stickered in in-appropriate places where they were ripped off and some to cool independent record stores who really REALLY appreciated them.

The stickers/posters did not help me pick up girls tho. booo! hehe

I'll help out in any way I can here in Boston, Mass. Street teams are all over the place here. You see stickers on trains, train stations, buses, street signs, mailboxes, pay phones wherever. Mostly underground hip-hop acts, mixtape dj's or college bands but the occasional big name act with an upcoming release will market this way around here as well (Gangstarr last year was one). Just dont do those little flyer things though, like the kind they hand out for raves and whatnot. The only place I ever see them is on the sidewalks or in the gutter.

back in 98' for HN... my boys and i hit the usual spots, the record stores, the clubs, the mall...etc. but at the mall we got em' good...
we rode the elevators and put the stickers on the elevator hand rails. and we did this about 20 times... so all you saw were HN stickers riding up and down the rails. it was classic. and they did send some security guards through the mall to look for us...but we were never found. funny stuff...
but we were lucky not to get in trouble. another cool thing was on that day a we had couple kids from mass. drive like 2 hours to come down to the mall and blast the place like crazy. the best thing was they wore the same type lab coats from the "intergalactic" video. with those guys doing thier thing and us rockin' the handrails we really got em' good that day. hehe. although ya know, i remember ian saying we probably shouldn't of defaced the property like that...but in the end he gave it the thumbs up...hehe.

The problem is, people would have to front the money themselves. If the right GRAPHICAL ARTIST came forward with a COOL DESIGN, I wouldn't mind dumping some cash into some stickers and sending some to Beth in Orlando and other peeps on the US east coast. If I sent someone some stickers tho, I'd request they be placed respectfully. We don't want to give the Beastie Boys a bad name, now do we?

I am working for a firm out of LA that's promoting the small venue tour and the new record. So basicly, I'm a part of the street team. I did get a fresh shirt with the new logo and "the hiatus is back of, again" on the back as well as some stickers for shops and some window clingies.

That's how I got my info on the $2 Bill show here. So... it is possible the label may decide to enlist the help of the fans, but as of right now, they're using this outside firm.
