On evening of Friday, April 30th, Dolma Choephel was hospitalized by NYC police in NYC after losing consciousness at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, the site of the hunger strike. Fortunately, she is doing a little better now.
The New York Parks Department have disallowed the hunger strike to continue at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. The hunger strike by the two remaining Tibetans will continue at the south-west corner of 42nd Street.
The New York Times has finally covered the story in its Metropolitan Section today, May 1.*

Dear Secretary Annan,
On April 30th, Dolma Choephel, one of three Tibetans on hunger strike outside the United Nations Headquarters, was taken to the hospital by police after losing consciousness. I am extremely concerned not only for her health, but for the health of the remaining hunger strikers, Sonam Wangdu and Gyatso. They have not eaten since April 2nd, and will not eat until their demands are met by the UN.
For decades, the United Nations has failed Tibet. China's influence in the General Assembly and Security Council has been allowed to eclipse any meaningful action to address the suffering of the Tibetan people. I believe it is out of this disappointment that acts as extreme as those of the three hunger strikers are borne. If the UN fails to address this situation, the lives of these three young Tibetans will be lost.
I urge you to immediately visit the hunger strikers at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, to address the demands of the Tibetan Youth Congress, and to ensure that the United Nations takes action for Tibet. For peace, freedom, and the inherent rights that your good office stands for, it is imperative that you speak up for Tibet now before it is too late.
Sincerely,
