Yeah good idea.
Here's my first draft, but I will have a more finalized version by the end of the week ;)
Ch-Check It Out (Electro Endor Remix) (http://www.thelooplounge.co.uk/hoolak-ch-checkitout.mp3)

I'm sure this question has came up a few times, but I'm going to ask it anyways.
What are BPMs? Beats per Minute?
How do you guys find this out? It seems to have to have a effect on the speed of the beats, but not the acapella.

(y) i like your version of Hold it Now Hit it. The Sly loop works really well.

The vocals are in the same tempo as the beat is. That makes the bpm rate of the acapella the same as the bpm rate of the beat.
How we find it out? The way i do it is by adjusting the tempo of the beat to the tempo of the acapella.
Acid pro then happenes to show you the bpm rate.
And thank you Auton (y)

You can also count how many beats there are in 10 seconds and then multiply your result by 6 ;)
Or throw a bar in Pro Tools and do a "Beat Identify"
Or play the track on a Walkman and see how many steps you have walked by the time the track is over, walk back home, tip your computer keyboard upside down and count how many crumbs fall out... multiply that number 34.2. Repeat until sectioned.
:)

I liked yours, Nobbus, but sometimes the stretched out accapella was a little distracting. The beat's really cool though.

Yeah, nice beat and moody pads. Agree about the time pitch speed being a little uneasy.

My shitty sampler, the Boss Dr.Sample Sp-202 has a 'tap' button. If you want to find out a BMP rate, tap the button along with the beat. After 4 taps it estimates the bpm for you.
My not-so-shitty-but-not-great drum machine, the Boss Dr.Rythm 770, allows you to change the bpm (or tempo) to whatever setting you need.

Sadly, that good for nuthin' son of mine lost our penthouse suite in a game of Chance...I now reside in the Cloud City Slums, but y'know...it's quite hip here.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my mix... got a few ewoks doing the side-to-side to it here (fast). :D

Sorry, I don't follow ur reference to Liverpool lol
My next mix? hmmm not sure which track to do. Big fan of Remote Control, but I don't have an acapella. We'll see :)
dirtydan11
05-05-2004, 09:54 AM
hey lando sr. it's actually an old irish song "the leaving of Liverpool" I thought you would know it for some reason  Shane MacGowan and the Pogues sang it too. Remote Control? that would be nice.

05-06-2004, 07:06 AM
hey dj skrilla! you really should find someone to host the explicit a capella. I don't think anyone will be pissed off about that now. Somebody please do the right thing! Hopefully in time for Tacozip this weekend (and for Lando's dad who is sure to do battle).
Nygel
05-06-2004, 02:23 PM
1. hosting an acapella shouldn't get you in trouble. so host it. now, i want it.
2. taco zip has alot of other, more important things to do so it'll be a week or so. he takes his time and it shows. always a good job on his part. and of caurse my favorite, uru-nitro should be remixing when he gets backs.
how long does it take you suckers to make your remixes? I usually just sit down and knock it out in 2-3 hours. sounds like you all labour over them for weeks.
landos_dad
05-06-2004, 02:35 PM
Mine in all honesty took a day. Some in the afternoon and some in the evening. Glad you think it may of took ages ;)
But that's only cos the original hook idea just help it all flow. It does depend.
Nygel
05-06-2004, 02:41 PM
ok, alot of the time people take a while. i take a day or so and then just fuck around with it after that. that link is expired so no acapella for me. i have no acapellas. so fuck. you all.
and landos. i haven't heard yours....actually, i've never heard of you
landos_dad
05-06-2004, 02:44 PM
Oh dear, are you gettin' rowdy? why so hostile? I ain't too bothered you haven't heard of me.... erm... yeah you should listen to my remix tho. I'd like some feedback. Sorry for being quite new here. Only been a fan since the 80s like.
Nygel
05-06-2004, 02:50 PM
well landos, i don't mean to be hostile. if you have msn messanger you could send it through that. for some reason its faster than a site. if ya don't then you could give me a link. i use to remix.
Cochese
05-06-2004, 07:48 PM
Peace Lando.
Yours is my favorite so far. I'm new here too, but I've been a Beastie Fan for as long myself. I mean I am 32 and all...but anyway...keep up the shiz cause I digs.
Uru-Nitro
05-07-2004, 02:48 AM
uru-nitro should be remixing when he gets backs.
:D
i'm not at home yet but I've created a loop that could fit the song well.
however I'm "finishing" the remix of other song that has never been remixed. chcheck it out it's too overmixed now, so I'm not worried for release a mix soon.
keep remixing and cya tomorrow
and btw, now some people are talking about how long takes to do a remix: the copy&paste remixes could take 20-30 minutes.
the great remixes that can be listened 100 times without boring could take several days/weeks.
balohna
05-07-2004, 02:52 AM
a portion of the openning scratch in the Anthology version of 3 MCs and 1 DJ sounds a lot like the loop in CCIO, someone should substitute it and add a heavier beat that goes at the same pace, and maybe throw in some vocal samples.
I would do it but I don't know how

You're right. sometimes they are finished in a matter of hours but sometimes it takes way longer.
The AV megamix took me a few weeks to finish.

Just listened to your remixes, Uru-Nitro. Most impressive. Really liked Body Movin' one :)
Taco your SureShot mix is da bomb, mate :D
Totally agree, that it just depends on how long a remix can take. Depends if the ideas you have any good or even coming to you. When I making my own music it could take forever or could take a day. I have project files here that still haven't progressed from one bar. :D

Check it out has been overmixed already, too bad there really isn't a great remix. The only one I liked so far was landos_dad's version. Is this is your first remix landos_dad? If so, its a great start keep it up. Its good that there is one thread for the remixes, great idea. Its good to keep it original, I heard the Beastie's beats hundreds of times already and its good to keep it fresh. I'm in the middle of a remix right now, its still a long way from being completed.

Need some help via PM from remix masters for this newbie question.
Just to check out the tempo i put a click on 2 and 4 over the a capella on Acid but found that it slowly began to drag... any help? First attempt at a remix but I have some good hook ideas so any help would be ... helpful.

I was thinking that I wouldn't host it because there's a HQ version coming from Beastieboys.com but considering the quality of the mixes already done I don't think it matters.
