editing older posts and deleting post

why can't we edit old posts? and where the fuck is the option to delete a post?

Time Limit on Editing of Posts: 5 Hours

I think this is reasonable. Hopefully it prompts people to think about what they say a little more if they have to deal with public reaction indefinitely. You have 5 hours to rethink it. The problem is that in past experience, people post something, get reactions to it, then they edit it/delete it, and then all the following posts don't make any sense or seem misdirected.

And no one can delete posts except mods or admins. Not sure why anyone needs that functionality.

When someone pounces on you or is a complete jackass, I liked having the option of deleting the post and letting their jackassedness stand on it own. Sort of beats childish "oh yeah, well..." back and forth nonsense. It also gives them the option of deleting their jackass post once they stop trippin and everyone's better off.
But whatever, blank space gets the same point across and that can still be done.
