taking pics on the gig

I called the melkweg, they say it is not allowed to take pics.
But what would happen if you do bring a camera?

Anybody with experiences?

i once had to leave it at the door. they gave me a ticket with a number so i could pick it up after the show... i hope they don't do this at melkweg cause i really want to take my camara so i can have pics for my photo album...

small band: nothing

medium band: they take your camera and give it back later

beastie boys: they'll throw you out

that's how it is at most venues, not sure about de melkweg but if I were you I wouldn't take the risk.

in berlin it wasn't allowed to take a camera into the club.
i had to leave it at the door. cell phones weren't allowed, too...

if you get one in and if you're careful, i don't think that they'll throw you out..
maybe you shouldn't work too much with the flashlight.. :)

I have a great id: I'm gonna put my md player in an oversized wallet, they always let the wallet trough!! they can't detect the mic with the metal detector I think..

I was able to sneak in my SLR camera (Canon EOS Elan IIE) with 80-300mm zoom lens into the 1998 Kansas City concert.
It was easy.

I put the camera body in a box of TAMPONS and glued the box closed. My crappy ex-girlfriend then put the Tampax box in her purse. No bouncer is going to bother looking into a box of tampons in a girls purse.

I had to crotch my zoom lens.

If you sneak a camera into a concert...NEVER use the flash. The flash is useless anyway. Most flashes will only reach about 5' - 15' (depending on the flash and film speed).

Sometimes I've had to smuggle in camera equipment AND recording equipment. That is a pain in the ass (not literally!). Those days are over for me though...

Last night at the london show it was totally impossible to take any pictures. Not even with the your cell phone. The security guys were controlling everybody during the whole show.

I was at a Janes Addiction show in Sydney last year and a girl next to me called her friend and held her phone up so she could hear. Perry Farrel took her phone and sang into it and gave it back to her after the song finished.
Was soo funny lol.
I trired taking a camera to beastie show in Sydney with Helmet in 94 and they took my camera but I managed taking cameras to quasar shows in 97. I usually try and take a cheap one and try my luck.
