Hi all, I was one of the happy few who got a ticket for the Amsterdam gig. I just got back.
I loved it all the way. Too short though. I guess something like 40-45 minutes incl. mix master mike's 10 minutes scratch routine.
What d'you all think? My vote - tops is five thumbs: (y) (y) (y) (y)

it was awesome.
I had, like, the best possible spot. (Right in front of the stage, exactly in the middle)
I shook Mike D's hand. He also spit on both me and my brother which real die hard fans would probably love but I thought it was pretty gross. It was too short but very very good, they really are better live than on CD. From the top of my head I think they played..... (not the right order)
mix master mike intro, intergalactic, so whatcha want, sure shot, pass the mic, check it out, that's it that's all, some other new track (triple trouble? with the diaz brothers hook), ch-check it out, shake your rump and some song from LTI I think.

yeah this was fucking awesome! :D
I stood completely up front, just like King of rock and other message board members(mullethead, romanpetr. captain jonz, spock, etc) There was no gap between the audience and the stage so we could litteraly touch the boys.
And the best part was that i gave Adrock a copy of the dvd with my remixes, at the very end of the show. :D

Hey everybody,
It was great, excellent, etc, etc.
I had THE night of my live,
it was nice though that the beastie where asking "is there anybody from russia" so they must have heard/being told about romanpetr otherwise why would you ask in holland for sombody from russia. (y)
It was about 45 minutes of pure pleasure.
The boys where having real fun performing, although MCA looked a bit absent minded when he was not rapping.
But again it was f**king GREAT...

Beige cap, black shirt.
Concert was amazing, I was a bit dissapointed not to see a drum kit and the likes when I got into the hall but Mix Master Mike's skills largely made up for it. I can't wait for the 'regular' tour!

Dr. Spock...it sounds like an incredible experience. Did they give the shout out to Roman by name. Someone said they asked if anyone from Russia was there...but what happened after they asked that question.
Who else was there? Jazz? Alfredo?

to spock:
Give the bootleg to me, I'll put it on my webserver, the only right thing to do for all the fans that waited in lines all over the netherlands and did'nt get a ticket (there must've been 10.000's) How big is it? My email address: riemertenbrink@hotmail.com it's probably better to send over msn if you use that.

well finally back as well.
GREAT show, so close to the stage - totally worth all the money and stress!
maybe that hasn't become so clear, so i'll tell the story extended version: romanpetr from the board, driving hours in the bus from latvia to (at the time of writing he will still have around 24hrs on his way back in the bus) spoke to amery smith (awol) when he was preparing the stage, told him about his long journey etc. during the concert adrock (?) asked for "the russian" to give a shout out - but some girl raised her hands. after some shouting they saw roman, asking if anyone in the club was actually from holland. only one girl raised her hand and mike d shook it and congratulated. so funny!! afterwards roman even got one of the setlists. lucky guy!
there were also some 2sided promo posters on the walls (mysteriously 'gone' after the concert) with the skyline on the one, the new press photo (with mike d as attacking bear) on the other. additionately they handed out some sort of flyer saying some shops where you can preorder a limited t5b version and get a cio single extra.
as the whole show was filmed professionally i hope it will appear somewhere, maybe they'll make a cut version from all these concerts for a enhanced (dvd)single or album. at least that's what i hope :)
i also think it's cool that they didn't use the same setlist everywhere. they even don't play the same new songs. they could be a bit more spontaneous though and for example play super disco breakin in amsterdam (when i'm in holland...)
and mca was not stoned or pissed in my opinion. he was rockin the same way he always did - and at least i didn't have the feeling he wasn't into it, he was very funny and stuff. they were all really charismatic, with a lot of interaction with the crowd.
and dr. spock made a bootleg which sounds really cool (we listened to part of it after the show).
and alfredo wasn't there (what for?), jazz maybe.
and i think part of the that's it lyrics have been changed
and ch-check it out is gonna be the new skills to pay the bills soon, they were performing it with so much energy and also rhyming parts of it in a totally different way (flow-wise).when mike d was holding "freshhhhhhhhh" for so long to punch "attire" in with his hand - a great moment.
and after the show we had a very nice evening in amsterdam! romanpetr, spock and pinchi (who is not a dude, so that you know) and the russian vodka.
GREAT WEEKEND!

I was standing upstairs and by the look of it, people up front had a big party, in the middle people surley enjoyed the gig and did not look bored or lame; but in the back i must admit that the crowd was quite lame....
But what d'you want? Man, like 75% of the crowd was invited. At the back you had your mix of press darlings, pretentious critics of mags etc, and worse their friends who could go with them so they can tell to their grandchildren they attended a Beastie Boys gig, if they still remember the name of the mc's by that time...
From upstairs -where by the way everybody enjoyed themselves- the differs in the crowd was obvious cause the room was not that big. At a normal concert in a bigger hall or something you also and always have your lazy ass people in the back who look bored... Not?
Still, another thing bothers me. Who the hell got it in their brains to go to the bar to get drinks during the gig? Like there was any time for that?

Want to hear the worse bit? A colleague of mine that really wanted to go but couldn't get tickets heard after the gig that his friend's girlfriend worked at a magazine where they had 20 tickets lying around that didn't get used. That's 10% of the tickets that were available to the public at the venue!!!
Tickets were getting sold at 100-200 a piece and there were god knows how many tickets lying in drawers or unopened envelopes on some idiot's desk...

i think it's just surprising to alternate a brandnew song. and i'm not even sure that it's a different bassline... passthemic, s2ptb and sww had a completely new beat - but that's not very surprising... especially for so watcha want i'd have preferred (at least part of) the original beat.
they had 20 tickets lying around
even though it's difficult, management should care who gets tickets and who not. if you just invite 5 'important' writers of a mag, all of them will come (especially because they are invited), if you give 30 tickets to some magazine, 10 persons will come..
why was Yauch bored??
and what do u mean, CH CHeck it out, is the new Skill TO Pay The Bills?????
yauch wasn't bored imo.
i meant it in the sense of a live-favourite - even if it doesn't get a big hit.
Hey Mullethead, glad you had a good time.
Thanks again for that limited edition flyer, I ordered mine first thing in the morning.

I'm so glad for all you guys!
You're all so lucky to have seen them now! I didn't win a ticket to the London show (but I had a great time there anyway, met about 20 people from another band's forum, attended an absolutely awesomely rocking gig and a great after show party :D ) and now I'm just hoping I can get a ticket for tomorrow's Sthlm gig. I can't afford to buy any if anybody's selling any outside (the trip to Londod emptied my wallet), so I have to wish I'm lucky this time. I heard they're already in town doing interviews today so maybe I should go and stalk about town ;)
Don't know where they're staying tho'

In another thread about Amsterdam (named: Amsterdam Rocked!)this girl wrote that she came to Amsterdam to see if she could score any tickets outside. People sold at stupid high prices so this girl walks around and ran into the Beastie Boys themselves when they arrived for the gig at the backstage door. She asked if they had any tickets and guess what? She got them!
So, you def should go to places where the bb are. And at the night of performance: don't stay at home in your cage, but check the backstage!

Did you leave right after the gig? I belive I saw this dude something like 15 minutes after the show giving them away...I did not get one either. Still was upstairs enjoying the echos of the Beastie Boys in my mind....
no I was in the chill out watching the live painting and the beastie DVD on the large screen. I want that one as well, the clip of Shake Your Rump is really fat!

I was also one of the lucky people who won tickets for the show (after I waited for hours at the post office and missed out, so you can guess how amazingly happy i was when I got a phonecall that afternoon).
It was just amazing. I had also seen the beasties 6 years ago when they came to rotterdam (my first concert ever BTW) but this was just so much better. I was right in front of the stage, and started grinning like mad when I saw the beasties that close :D
The crowd went nuts there, I got in the middle of a mini-moshpit and I was sweating my ass off and at one point could hardly breathe. But it didn't matter. The music made up for all of that.
I went nuts on old the old song. I was saying all the lyrics out loud, and I din't even know I knew them...Guess my obsessive beastie fan-ness a couple of years ago was worse then I thought it was.
And the new songs...well i really like 'em. Phat beats, great rhymes. Can't wait for the album to come out. (with bonus single. i did get the flyer)
Oh and someone told me that you could get posters and stickers at the door, but I didn't see them :( what posters where they? I'd really like to have one, so if anyone's got a spare, let me know ;)
And Spock, I DL the MP3's and they're really cool. Thanks for sharing.
(I thought i could hear myself screaming , where were you?)

Does anyone know if there are more reviews from the press? If so link them or so...
The Metro review was more like a report of the gig imo. A nice report. But at the end the dude writes that there was nothing new about the new songs...imo he did not listen that good i guess. And again, what is it with critics that people in music (and also film) always have to re-invent themselves? Or what do they mean when they write that there was nothing new about it...Beats me.
