question: is it slowly killing hiphop? take for example public enemy's "it takes a nation of miilions", an album of that calibur CANNOT be done today, why? majority of the album was built on samples, anyone agree/disagree? i say this, thank god for the internet and allowing us basement/bedroom producin folk the opportunity to create our own shit and put it up so that others can have a listen to our remixes and mash-ups and our own self-produced material....

its not like people in the underground actually obey the law and clear samples.

but yeah, it still sucks.

i think it'd be pretty gay if people could go around copying other people's shit willy-nilly.

Just look at DJ danger mouse, he wanted to make it an official release, but they stopped him so now he is on the same level as all of us, letting others download. Copyright laws limit creativity, they should let us use anything as long as we give credit to the original artists. Its not like we are reselling the same thing they've created, we just use parts to created a new unique piece. Now they're releasing acapella albums for more $$$, but they won't let us release our own creations. (n)
