:D
the wait was worth it...
6 hours all in all, sittting on the phone booth in the rain, running into people from the board, people who got tix thru HFS, and most of all running into my friend Sean, who I hadnt seen in 10 years, since HS. He was the tall skinny kid in the white shirt tryin to buy a ticket off ANYBIDY.
While runnin to the car for a quick, um, "errand" I heard on HFS theyd give a ticket to the first person at the tent who yelled, Tim Virgin sent me...I flew out the car, ran down the street pass the line, saw Sean and I was yellin all the way. He got in they gave him the bracelet, and walkin up the crowd, the line, cheereeed. amazing
mad propes to seth from maine gettin in with no tix, because he drove FROM Maine ticketless, and well was blessed. also chilling with Ed aka DY-No-Mite from the board....
The show itself, after the hiatus of the evening, was great. They ran thru the hits, similar to what was posted from the Europe show.. It was one hour non stop Beasties hip hop, and they were having fun the whole way through. the energy was great, the crowd intenese, and it was a dream come tru,.,,and then some...Thanks to all the fans who keep it real, it was my slice of paradise.

WOW!
That was a killer post! Thanks for taking the time to share with us tonite, and for letting people out here on the west coast know how it all came together for people on the board!
COOL! Its great to read your pleasure!
AND! You guys got Brass Monkey too? Seems like everyone gets it, except Vegas.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your evening. It sounds like you and your friends had a great time! (y)

Driving from NJ without a ticket is crazy (nothing like Maine) but getting in for free was PRICELESS. Thanks to the 9:30 Club guys from some true fans who stayed around for hours with the slight chance they may get in. Take a look at tonights Show poster, promo card and infamous wristband.

Mad props to Video- Mike, all the board peoples, the fans and WHFS. Yes the three hour delay Sucked but I don't think it was a scam which has been posted. I just don't think the Beastie's would scam the fans. I'm gonna try to get this set list right, but not in perfect order....

The show was geat. They were on point as always. Not to many fuck-ups that wer'nt funny. And they played Shake Your Rump. Awesome! They can still finish each others lines and rap super fast! (highlight). The New Style was another one I did'nt expect either... another highlight for me. Right Now sounded great live with all that bass. Triple Trouble was also on point. Open Letter hit the mark live as well. It was a set list that has been as long as all the other prvious shows I have seen. very similar to the Two Dollar Bikk vegas show which airs sunday night on MTV2 @ 8:00pm. If I think of anything thing else I'll add it.......

Oh yeah, one more thing.... I have seen the Beastie Boys numerous times and many venues including the 9:30 club in 1994. And I must say that the chicks at this show were fuckin' unbelievable. I don't mean they were hot either. They were rude and ignorant. I was surrounded by chicks who were pushing jumping into people, drunk of thier minds and acting stupid. One chick got warned several times and finally bailed out of the front because she was so hammered. Other chics would just try to bum rush to the front until they got to me off course....."Come On let us get up there", "move" "we want to get close". "Piss Off!" That was my response. Some chics would get guys to push through and they would follow the guys and run people over. I have never seen so many ignorant Beastie Girls in my life. I did not see one dude have any beef with anyone. But I saw several chics cussing and bitchin at each other. Really Weird. My wife could not belive the nerve of "some" of the girls at the show. Most of them wanted up front and only knew two fuckin songs!

Man how could you guys leave out Body Movin, come on now be accurate. I would agree that it was mos def worth the 8 hours invested. minus getting clocked in the face twice by some fat guy trying to hide a camera from a bouncer, but that asshole got what was coming to him. This was my first concert ever AND I LOVED IT.

I know with a bit or work we can get the exact setlist. Does anyone remember the order of things? Or at least if certain songs were before/after others?
I have a setlist at home...I'll scan it in and post it.

Missed ya. I did see the two backward hat frat boy twins up there tho. I was between 1/3 and 1/2 the way back on the floor, dead center. Talked to a few cool people. Was annoyed by the Fred Durst poser with an Orioles lid who bumrushed up thru us midshow with the lie of "Looking for my girl". Also annoyed by the kid off his Ritilan behind us who couldn't stop smacking people in the head and annoyed everyone around us. The guy having a midlife crisis that kept going up top was also annoying. Everything else was amazing.
Loved the tracks right before the show. I don't think many people knew what they were tho as I was the only one around me who knew the lyrics. Sugarhill, Whodini, and Doug E. Fresh.

Awwww, sorry I DID wear my hair in pig tails as promised. I was talking to some of the HFS people at times, so if you saw them you might have seen me.
As for the music before the show, yeah I knew. This little gal was at the Chris Rock special filmed at DAR and his openers were Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick.
Not to mention I heard a little Jay-Z in the mix.
I was also going to say Brian snagged a set list, but he posted that already.

I stayed on the floor. Except to peek into the basement as I'd never bothered to do that before, I think I'm still coughing from it. Saw one lass with pigtails and a green shirt, that was it. They played the songs out of order. Shoulda been "6 Minutes" and THEN "5 Minutes of Funk", heh. I saw Rock at this comedy club that I think is gone now but was on K Street (ie, not the Improv), ages and ages ago. He was still doing OJ and Mayor Barry jokes is how long ago it was. Freshhhhhhhhh.

im so glad that guy by the tent out front got in!! thats awesome!!
their were annoying girls there. i am a girl but i was on the balcony in the center. there were these 3 girls in pink shirts (two redheads) and one in a black tank top with their boyfriends in front of me and my friend. they were so super annoying. and the boys with them smelled so bad!! they took up way too much room and wouldnt let anyone else sqeeze in. it didnt even seem like they even knew most of the songs. just the obvious ones like intergalatic. but i dont think they had a clue when skills to pay the bills came on. just spoiled girls it seemed. oh well im sure there will always be a couple of those everywhere.
the show itself was awesome. im still spinnning in disbelief that i was actually there. this will def be something i remember. thanks to everyone that made it happen!! especially to the beastie boys themselves!! i had a spetacular time!! :D :) :D

it was such a treat gettin sean in (the guy up front)- esp since he had been tryin for like 5 hrs to buy tix..the fact the he got in free kicked ass....his guest gave me $200 for the free tix - my jaw hit the floor - bought a tshirt, mad drinks n food
n to the guy who said the show sucked - youre entitled to yout opinion - however any true beastie boys fan who was there - loved the show - and the boys felt that energy and delivered a great set...
i dunno how i coulda forgetten body movin....!!!!

Didn't see them, but I was close by. I was off center to the right slightly, just to the left of the stairs. But I wasn't even trying to watch the fans, cept for the impromptu breakdancing during the wait. I was too busy staring at MCA to give a care. To me, that man is aging nicely and is still yummy.

i had no choice in seeing the annoyin girls as i was right behind them. but yea i was entranced too and they kept talking to themselves and blocking my view and i was ready to push one aside. but her bf was a really big guy!! oh but yea them b=boys were lookin good. maybe thats why the girls were annoying, too much hormones. maybe i was annoying too. casue i was ready to get me some adrock!!! he was so cute. i stil cant believe i saw them!!

Yeah, I agree with some of the above posts. Great show!, but the crowd was a bit rowdy. I ended up helping some nice girl, get out from the front of the crowd, and stand off to the side. She got her hair pulled, her glasses knocked off her face, etc...
I am not complaining by any means, its just kinda foolish that some of the Beastie Boys' fans were practically getting mugged.
Thank you to the Beastie Boys, and they did apologize for running late.

I feel lucky to have caught the show last night and I had a blast. I was one of the lucky few who scored a ticket outside, so thanks go out to my man Chris. Vindictivimmune, I agree with you about the karma. I definitely got my share! I brought my "ticket" to work today so I could scan it and post it and I felt like I was carrying something valuable. I posted it here (http://lantner.net/david/images/bboys-930club-06-15-04.jpg) for y'all. Now it'll go into a frame on my wall.
I was a little surprised when they played Rapper's Delight before the show because I was hoping the Boys would rock Triple Trouble, but they did anyway and we got to hear both.
While I wasn't quite sure what to make of the crowd, I think we did alright in the end. I put up with the schnooks and met some cool people, too. The Beasties were in top shape and yeah it was short but oh so fresh. MixMasterMike was precise!

Slim Shady? Ugh, bad bad joke.
I had on a PUSA shirt, white type on black shirt, from when I saw PUSA at 9:30 eons ago. Safe to say I was the only one. Wife had a Purple Haze (as in Abita Beer) shirt. Saw a guy with a nice 70s style Star Wars Chewbacca T, that was a laugh. Speaking of beer, and Abita (brewery out of New Orleans, but you can get it here). The annual Dominion Beer Festival is next Saturday.

What I can't figure out is the numbering scheme on the tickets? Way over 9:30 capacity. I guess they are using the same template and ticket counter and changing affiliate logos for "special" shows? Makes sense. That is some wicked fun paper stock and not something to just use as a one-off print run for one show.
