I finally watched it last night, and I enjoyed it, but I must say one thing.. Somtimes its ok to throw in a few different beats to old songs, but for the majority, I love to hear the original beats. It just sounds better. I know MMM can jam, but the beastie boys are the beastie boys for their obscure beats.
I wasn't crazy about the "club" beats that were playing with established songs...
I wonder if when they tour, it will be 3mc's and 1 DJ?? I wonder if they will bring the rotating stage on tour, or if it will be outdoor venues, such as Tweeter centers??
anyways, I just wanted to throw my thoughts in...
anyone agree/disagree???

I got all kinds of hell for saying the exact same thing....I had a post called MMM needs to go....
I think he ruins the old stuff, maybe the beasties are just tired of the old shit and tell him to mix them up a bit, but in my opinion he goes WAY overboard!!!!
If i wanted to go to a rave...I wouldnt go to a beasties concert...right??? RIGHT!!!!

I agree 100%. I love when they change it up (or when MMM changes it up). He's an amazing DJ and the boys rhyme well to his style.
Remember: We need body rockin' not perfection
I kinda like it when MMM drops a beat and it takes a second for the boys to get back on beat. That's the sign of a true MC.

They've been around for 2 decades already and they need to refresh in order to continue. The Beasties are guranteed fresh everytime. (y)

There's no point on having a DJ if he isn't going to do something cool, like switch up the beats or something. I'd much rather see that than just have them out there throwing down rhymes to some flatline DAT tape.

i think its fun when they have to stop and get coordinated again, cause they just laugh at it. i watched it last night as well, and i cracked up because right before they played triple trouble, mmm had messed up the beat for a song, and so adrock was like, "well, good thing it was only $2. you got what you paid for." i thought it was cool how they could poke fun at that sorta stuff.
but yeah, it's good to mix beats up a bit and give the beasties a challenge once in a while, or else they'll get fed up with playing the same songs the same exact way every time, and they'll just eventually stop playing them at all because they get tired and bored. we should make the concerts just as enjoyable for them as it is for us.

Speaking of DAT and the 2$ Concert in L.V. Did anyone notice that there is no vinyl spinning for Triple Trouple? The only vinyl used is the one that MMM is scratching with over the DAT. I wonder why???

whatcha gotta realize though is YES, MMM must throw in diff beats in order to keep the crowd gasping for air (a couple times when he threw in new beats the crowd went nuts). That is what a good DJ does. Also, he has not gone too far when he throws in "Lil' Kim beats." Most (at least 90%) of those drumloops i immediately recognized from battle records. Lots of them were classics. Beastie Boys and MMM are a hip hop group. There are MC's and a DJ. originally, it was supposed to be the DJ who was influencing everything. But of course, the BB's were reciting lyrics, and therefore the DJ wrapped himself around the MC's. Mix Master Mike is one of the best hip hop DJ's around, and has been since the mid-90's. When you get honored by the DMC, you know youre doin something right :D

I thought the concert itself was awesome,a nd it was hilarious when they made the $2 joke. I was a bit dissapointed that they didnt do more older songs but I know in just a 45 minute concert (whcih is basically what it is with commercials) they have to plug the new album. I have to say though that the political statement just ruined the entire concert. The whole "don't vote for George Bush". I know the Beasties are political and that is great, but this country isn't about voting AGAINST someone, its about voting for someone. And like every other rock start and movie star they had no one to say to vote for or issues to vote on, just "vote against". Thats really dissapointing for someone with the Beasties stature, if you're going to be political have some facts. Hopefully everyone that heard that willg o out and vote for Ralph Nader (since that is voting AGAINST President Bush) so Bush will still be president. Then maybe for the next time they'll learn to do what they do awesomely, which is perform.
I missed the show. After eMpTyV F-t up the last award show I deleted the station from my tele.
Is there a way too catch it or isit too late????!!!!
will they replay or am I just SH:t outa luck?

When they use the camera in the back did anyone see those two assholes standing still?? I mean not for a song or two, the whole damn show!!!! From the first to the last those few guys were statues. Real fans waited through a lot of shit to not even get in. Then inside there are stiffs standing still holding their D!C&$!!!!!!! WTF!

The Huntridge is just not set up for this stuff. A majority of their shows are just local rock acts. They weren't prepared but I think it was the best bet for camera angles, etc. compared to the House of Blues or The Joint.

I finally watched it last night. I was pretty tired, at first, then the show just pumped me up.
I actually watched it twice in a row -- thanks TiVo. I really like the new/old beats. It was funny watching Yauch struggle with the slow beat.

I didn't mind the switch up on some of the songs. I like that they try and keep it fresh and new. At least they still sing some of their old songs. I went to a Prince concert not long ago and he sang only snippets of his old stuff. Come to think of it even if the Beasties didn't sing their old stuff they'd still be dope!! I'm glad they're back and I hope their music ushers out Eminem!!

Anytime I can see the Beasties perform is a good deal. Especially when it is free and can do it from the comfort of my own home!
Always good to see them perform!!! Whether good or bad, thought it was GREAT!
THANKS MTV AND BEASTIE BOYS for airing this so soon after the album premiere!!!
