Sounds like you saw the tour that is talked about on Fear of a Black Planet! Cool stuff bro. I'm old school too but never got a chance to see them live back then.

I saw '86 Worcester Centrum Show. Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Murphy's Law. I was 14 at the time. Seen them a bunch since then as well (including my favorite legendary '91 show at the Building in NYC: see Slow and Low live video for footage of that amazing night). So, yes, there are some old school fans on here. Now, more importantly, what happened to the "5 boroughs in one day" helicopter transport live shows that were supposed to go down this week? Did Mike and Tamra's baby put the kaibosh on that or are we re-scheduled? Anyone?

I saw them in July of 1987...just before my 18th bday. It was in New Orleans for the Together Forever show with Run DMC. They had the cages, but girls from the audience danced in them...no "professional" dancers. They also did not have the inflatable penis. But they did go through about 3 cases of beer in about an hour...with most of it sprayed and spilled.

Saw the first one they played here,
The Tivoli about 92 for Check your head.
Did'nt have the money to go to the uk in the 80's :(

but the Tivoli was brilliant and I even got to talk with MCA who was in the crowd watching the support act

I'm old school enough to have been excited about the Paul's Boutique tour that never happened!

That show looked incredible.

yeah, it was incredible. They opened with "To All The Girls" from off-stage (making mention of New York neighborhoods like "To all the Upper East Side girls"... etc). Then they kicked into that version of "Slow and Low" and the place went nuts. I've never seen anything like it. The floor wasn't just shaking, it was bouncing up and down. At one point I got on stage (many other people were stage-diving and just going crazy) and high-fived MCA and Mike D. Grand Master Caz from Cold Crush Brothers picked me up by my beltloops and threw me back into the crowd. There were many rap legends there and this was really a homecoming for the boys (who had been in LA for like 4 years). The hometown crowd was so amped. I saw Ricky Powell and Hurricane and his wife in line. Anyone who was there can confirm that the show was insane. Only time I heard "Car Thief" live.
I forgot to mention Cypress Hill was one of the opening acts (before their first album came out). It was the first time most people had heard them and their introduction as being from Cali had many skeptical. I think I even heard some boos. Then they came out and did "Pigs" and "How I Could Just Kill a Man" while lighting joint after joint and sending them back into the crowd. Needless to say, the fans went nuts. This was also Luscious Jackson's first show if that means anything.
On a sad note, my friend who drove down to that show from Boston with me was killed a couple of years ago by a drunk driver. I miss him.

I'm old school, I was a teenager during the Def Jam days, and I was born & raised in New York (just outside NYC) The Beasties were a big part of my life, and I always loved going to concerts, but for some reason, I never saw them live until 1994 Lolla. I caught tons of Murphy's Law and Bad Brains shows, but never made it to a Beastie show.

Here's some of my old school regrets...

The big tours with RunDMC, etc, I missed. But, I remember one show in like December 86? or 87?. It was at the old Ritz in NYC, and Murphy's Law and Leeway were the openers. Total NYC hardcore, and the Beasties headlined.
Xmas holidays time, and Murphy's like to party, so it was a complete blow out, from what I heard. I think it was a school night, and I couldn't find friends to go or something, so that's why I missed it. One girl from my school went, though, and she was wearing one of those green Murphy's Law shirts the next day, and telling everyone how great it was.

Whatever secret NYC gig they did around pre-CYH, where they were playing Minor Threat and classic LTI & PB. I think someone mentioned this show above in this thread.

1992 Roseland ballroom. CYH Tour, with Cypress Hill and Sonic Youth (?) opening, I think? Bunch of my friends had tix, I didn't get one for whatever reason. Would have been a great chance to see the Beasties when they first starting playing instruments again.

Finally saw them live at Lollapoolza Randalls Island 94, and twice on Hello Nasty tour.

I totally regret not seeing the old school shows though, because I was old enough and in New York!

Also seen them in 92, at the Roseland. They opened up the place early to let the fans in to see the sound check, and me and my buddies went in, brown-baggin it! I actually got back stage, and stood right next to MCA while he was being interviewed. I was drunk, and in complete awe! Have no idea what was said, I just knew he was looking at me like "who the hell is this guy". They opened up this show with To all the Girls, right into Slow and Low, making that my favorite B-Boys song! What a night!

I saw the boys open for Madonna when I was 12 living in Long Island, and pledged my beastie allegiance forever that night. I have to say, as was previously mentioned, the shows during the '92 CYH tour were out of this world. Orlando, FL. outside at the Edge concert field with Cypress Hill and Rollins Band was particularily unbelievable. I've seen the boys 11 times in my life and only heard Car Thief twice. The last time was at the Omni in Atlanta in '95. I will chop of my left leg to hear that song one more time LIVE.
Show me a tour, please.

Aside from catching a '92 show at the ARagon Ballroom in Chicago, I remember catchin' them again in '94 at the Rosemont Horizon, I was a junionr in high school, my buddy's parents drove 5 of us there, dropped acid in the back of their van....INSANE SHOW!!, not to mention one crazy night. I just remember that whole place Bouncing, some mangled dude from the pit passed out on a bunch of trash bags, and being completely def afterwards. The show itself was amazing, I think there was an acapella version of Sounds of Science w/some beat boxing....could be wrong? I've never been to a concert (been to many) w/that much energy and anticipation, maybe it was because I was so young but DAMN!!

I Still wear the t-shirt I got that night religiously!!

Good times man....
