Yes but it is a pain in the ass. Just buy the premade stuff, it's far less headache.

are you implying that egg nogg is gross?


last christmas i had some of the premade stuff that was alcoholic, and man was it terrible...i went back to the plain stuff right away, because that stuff was way to powerful...maybe i dont really like rum? i dont really know, but it seemed too strong for me...and it had the most terrible after tatste...blah

i think recipie wise...its like 2/3 milk, 1/3 rum(or other liquors maybe?), an egg, and some other crap (which probably is what makes it taste oh so good)

people, just go and google 'egg nog recipe' and I promise you there will be many.

To really make it properly you have to stand by the stove constantly stirring it while it cooks, and I mean constantly. And you have to be very careful not to overcook it or you'll ruin it. This is why I'm saying, just buy it. Life is short.

Aww, but that takes the fun out of someone telling their very own recipe on a message board. I for one have never had egg nog, but having heard the descriptions it sounds similar to making proper scrambled egg in a pan.

There are ways to make it without cooking it but it means that you are using raw eggs, so there's that salmonella thing to consider.
