The Beasties fans are getting older (like me :( ) and they tend not to buy albums as much. I don't know if the 14-22 year olds are coming in at the numbers needed to replace the older fans who drop out.
Once they go on tour, they'll sell more and it'll go platinum in the U.S.
It would help if they could get play on any pop or rap stations (and not just modern rock stations). If Triple Trouble could cross over to pop/Top 40 radio, then the numbers will go back up.

#3 for the 2nd week is still respectable. Plus it's summer and #'s are smaller. Depending on radio and singles and the tour, this album should have a long billboard life. :)

No worries. Though in the big picture, sales really dont matter, I think Triple Trouble is going to give them a boost, crossing over even into mainstream radio. It's a classic track with humor to boot. And lets not forget, in a few more months, an open letter to nyc will be released. They're saving their best for last. To me, Check it out isnt nearly as strong as those two songs.

I think the Beasties are doing pretty good saleswise. I mean up until now they've already sold 502,000 copies of their album, half million mark, and are #3 on Billboard. From #1 to #3 on Billboard is definitely respectable!!

Ditto. I'm 19 and have been a fan since I was 3 and will remain one as long as I live.
They need to throw out a new single very soon. That'll definitely help.

I'm 35 and a BB fan since 1986 (you do the math)...
I think initial sales are not that important with the Boys' releases, till now anyway. Remeber that their stuff has tremendous staying power (which you can witness going to some lame record store that will still have PB or CYH or IllCom in stock).
So let the wannabes outsell 'em now - in 10 years' time people will probably go "Usher - who?" when buying the 7th BB album (which should be available then) ;)

Just compare the air play that all the other artist are getting compared to TT5B, that speaks volumes about where the BB's are now and where they will be. Lets remember how PB was received by all and where it is today. We need not encourage the BB's to go another 10 years Rorschach!

I'm 36, and like many BB fans my age, we have seen them grow and change in a few ways. To be honest, I really don't care what album sales say, or how they fair. All I know and care about is when I get in my car, switch on my cd player, reach out for the volume, and crank that good shit up!!
