All the bootlegs of the Beasties live have been awesome. I love the way they mix up the beats live. They need to come out with a live album...

Oooohhh yes. But only If I'm in the crowd, so I can shriek something out during a lull in the music and get on the album.

I have heard Ch-Check it Out live on the radio and it was bloody brilliant.

As great as the beasties are i would have to advise against that. Though they put on an amazing live show i wish that they would just rap over their own beats. Sorry if i've offended anyone but that's just how i feel

the idea Pearl Jam had on 2000 was great!!

an album for each concert.. (y)

an italian band this summer during the tour will sell the live album after the concert for few Euros for each date.
so you go to see this band live, you wait half an hour and you can buy the cd of the concert you just saw...
isnt great?

they did but out a cd with live tracks. the root down ep but the idea of selling a cd for each show wouldnt work.. they don't change there set each night.. i saw them in 3 cityts in 5 days and it was the same set every time except that a tribe called quest broke up before the montreal show and q tip didn't come out but the bis did instead and did benny and the jets for the first time(reading of paper every word)

i was wondering the same thing, maybe even a live DVD
but i guess it would be either very expensive to clear all the samples MMM uses in the set, or iotherwise a very close to the album aproach so that they don't need to pay for all those extra samples

i was JUST discussing this with my friend at the local watering hole the other night. This friend of mine is the BIGGEST Pearl Jam fan I have ever seen. Kid is nuts about them...anyway, we were talking about records and I asked him a legitimate question "Do you own all those live CDs yet?" and he looked at me like i had racoon semen dripping out my nose. His answer was that, although he loves them and can't get enough of seeing them live...he doesnt want to spend all that cash for the same show.

I was rather shocked by this, because well.....I'd buy every show the Beasties would release...and still want more.

"How many fucking versions of Daughter do I need?"

my answer (substituting Root Down for said Pearl Jam song) is "all of them"

The only difference is that Pearl Jam never has the same setlist from night to night, and switches up their sets more so than most, if not any band (save jam band types) so it is worthwhile to document and release each show. If you have any knowledge of the history of the Beastie Boys live, of which you can get a good idea of from www.beastiemania.com 's gigography section, you would know that, for the most part the Beasties do the exact same sets almost every night of a major tour. I have around 50 or so bootlegs, and from show to show within a same tour setlists are VERY similar, and the only difference is sound quality.

Not saying a professionally mastered soundboard recording of a Beasties show wouldn't suit my fancy, because it would, very much so...but releasing every show from a tour doesn't make much sense for them, it would be largely a gimmick, unless it motivated them to switch up their sets even more and add some rarities to their live show, in which case I would be all in favor of it.

To be honest, a Live disc from the 98 tour would've been ideal, even a DVD, they played pretty long sets, about 90-120 minutes for most of the dates, and the inclusion of the intrumental sections make for a much more interesting and eclectic performance...If they are planning on doing shows similar to what they have been doing (less than an hour shows compromised of 10-15 songs, mostly the singles, and nothing out of the ordinary) I don't even think a live disc would be worthwhile. There is already at least 2-3 great quality bootlegs from the last year or so that capture their live show extremely well.

it is true most bands release live or greatest hits record as a way to get out of a record contract....but it would be dope if the beasties went all out and did it up the right way.

but i agree that some of the boots from 98-99 are amazing. give or take a few MMM fuck ups, and a lyrical blunder here and there, i think Loreley is in excellent recording.

They should do a DVD of one tour stop (NY would work well I guess, but Vancouver would be ideal since I would be there) and throw in that Glasgow TV special and a couple other shows.
