Greetings beastie boys and girls. I'm proud to announce the third installment of the acclaimed "Beastles Series". This one here fuses "Root Down" by our boys with "Martha, My Dear" by the Beatles, collectively known as "Root Down, My Dear." It took me a lot of chopping, though when I threw down a simple drum track and laid down my own electric bass part the whole thing came together nicely. As always, feedback is divine. Enjoy!

Props to DJ BC for his blessings in this musical folly.

Nice work! I'm honored to get props of any sort.
No need to wonder about biting my style- I woulda done it a bit differently.
(y) Nice selection/arrangement of samples, for sure. Are you also playing bass on this?!?! If so, NICE! Also, I like how you ended it, very cool.

If I can make a couple suggestions... I realize you haven't asked, so hopefully this won't annoy or insult ya!
(lb)
-I'd have the drums kick in earlier
-I would have used a more hip-hoppy drum beat (or a 2nd, more active beat in addition to the housey one you used, and alternated between the 2 beats). More layers would allow you for more freedom for variation.
-I would allow the Martha riff to fully resolve/play out, at least once, at some point

I think it's an enjoyable listen, though! Not tryin to diss it in any sense! :o

Off to work on Beastles #4...

Just to clear up a couple of your queries, DJ BC. That actually was me playing bass, though there was one section where I simply doubled McCartney's part. Also, about the beat, I tried a whole slew of drum tracks and samples and stuff for this, but nothing seemed to fit, especially something with a hip-hop feel. This is due to the "bounciness" of the piano part. So rather than sacrificing the flow by tagging an "unfitting" hip-hop drum track, I decided to take it simple. I'm bummed that you took that drum track as a "house-ish" beat because I was just trying to go for a rockabilly-esque drum sound. If I were to do the house thing there would be a much, much thicker kick and a snare instead of the hat. Regardless, thanks for your comments, they've been duly noted.

Sorry Bro D. I guess it was kind of obnoxious for me to tell you how to do your mix... :o

I dig it though, it's a keeper... dont get me wrong!

Not at all, BC. I definitely didn't take your comments offensively, but constructively. I appreciate the feedback, really.
