Granted, I'm new and ignorant. And poor, too. Not to mention ill equipped.
I've dug the Beastie's for many a' time, and I've longed to make some kind of cooky mismash ever since I managed to comprehend the layered dynamics of Paul's Boutique.
And so, I decided to give "mixing" a try. The only free stuff I found was basically copy-paste kind of stuff. And obviously, most of my stuff came out rank.
This has been going on for about two years now, and I reckon I should grovel to the folks at the Beastie forums. They should know stuff.
First, you guys got any "free" (or trial) software that makes this easier? All I have is a lil' program dubbed "GoldWave," and it's a fair ditty, but I wish there was something that produced more coherent results.
Now, after collecting random snippetts of songs from various sources (Beasties included, of course), I decided to try splattering the results on an instrumental. This is what I have so far:

Yeah, New Order, Clash, Zeppelin and just enough Adrock to justify me using these forums (y) .
Anyhoo, the thingy I have can take a chunk of a song, and I can just copy-paste it over and over, thus creating a barbaric sort of loop, but I didn't try that here.
Now, umm, this is where I actually say something other than blabber:
Is it possible to take different intrumentals and somehow make them transition smoothly using such petty software, and then being able to put the (full) vocals from other material? I've listened to some "remixes" and some of them are quite impressive, and the fact that they do it from scratch or with a fair amount of synchronization of tunes makes it bewildering to contemplate creating one  .
Well, thanks for reading all that jabber. I hope my thingy sounds alrite.
Tips? Tricks? Por favor, respondan!
