when im at school, im going to miss being able to come home after a late night, and search the fridge for leftovers to throw together and make something interesting...

i know i wont have all that many leftovers, so it wont be the same...

example: tuesday night i played baskeball after work and got home at 8, really hungry. mom was out, and dad took the sister out to eat, so there wasnt anything i missed. i opened the fridge, pulled out a whole slew of stuff, and ended up with a good meal.

i started with the leftover pasta and red sauce (very little sauce) and i dumped it all into my bowl. i added some extra sauce that was loose in another container. then i cut up the leftover bites of steak and tossed them in the mix. we also had some of those spicy greek olives, so i figured why not. i added the obvious choices of hot sauce and parmesan cheese as well, and it was one of the tatyest meals ive had in a while.

anyone else do stuff like this a lot? hopefully my other roommates this year will feel the need to keep the fridge full

Why don't you just make the food fresh... it's better that way.

usually when i root through the fridge, its when i get home late at night, and i dont feel like putting anything fresh together...and usually that requires more thought and work to find what i need...

so what i do is pull out everything that looks like it could be used for the meal, and see how i can mix and match stuff to eat what i want

and besides, if the leftovers dont get eaten, the food will go bad, and i hate to throw away perfectly good food that i could have eaten a week earlier...
