The beauty of this song is that it can be directed towards anyone the listener wishes it to go to. I like to listen to it in my car after a rough day at work. Thank you Beastie Boys for giving me an outlet that doesn't involve me getting fired. Hopefully the next album can have a song on it titled "Useless as Tits on a Boarhog" (it's a popular saying here in the south) or "Too Stupid to Pour Piss Out of a Boot Even With Instructions on the Heel". I see it (and the whole album) as a true piece for the ages... a sort of absolute (Beastie) reaction in no uncertain terms to the times we live in... And in the States, it's basically for those who: (a) support Bush (b) can't/ don't really tell the difference... down to the very situation for their mental impotence and lack of attention paid... (c) those who can't/ don't care to think about (b).

It's for those (let's say in the music business) who misconstrue and feign to claim "word" with much complexity for the following herd who have neither the experience nor the wherewithal to know better... really 'causing a dam to be built instead of breaking it down right. I think it's addressed to people who speak on things that they don't know about - like people who say Beastie Boys are overrated and that they didn't have a major influence in hip-hop music... or some dumb shit like that.

Because the real deal is this: Beastie Boys are one of the only groups that have consistently made solid hip-hop records (beyond that played-out, bullshit, Korg Keyboard mess that we get today).

Do your homework and you'll see. That's not to deny that there were some good groups. But where are they now? Creativity doesn't thrive very well in the music industry these days. I wonder why.
