I sat through the long download, and I tried the new software. I'm glad it can get the bpm stuff, but man, sometimes it goes overboard and make's potential samples play too fast or slow.

In the end, I used the ole' drum-machined "Wanton Song" loop (used in my "Body Movin" thingy) along with the "Shake Your Rump" acapella, mostly because the tempo's were almost identical. In addition, there's only one properly inserted sample, and I used that one already!

And it's even on the same spot, too.

Then, I tried to insert something at a certain break, and it ended up sounding like crap. Yep, the Pet Shop Boys' "What Have I done to deserve this?" gets screwed.

I order to justify that, I added a lil' scratch and a "Word!" from the old cut "Posse in Effect."

I used the old program to add this last bit. I figured I couldn't make it any worse.

Here it is. Cover your ears, folks:

Overall, I find this whole concept way too constraining. Any fun items that I could've once thrown in get totally transmogrified, and that's just nerve-racking. I should just forget "sampling" and stick to a drum machine in that case, now, shouldn't I?

Anyhoo, in the end, I think the stuff is still off beat. I expect someone to say "the vocals are totally unmatched with the riff" or something. And I'm bound to agree.

So now, I ask you all this question: Would it better to just develop a rhythym with the old drum machine, match it to the lyrics, and then be free to add junk at random (kinda like before)?
