Weird Similarities

Sorry guys, this isn't a remix for listening, just a question about some remixes. On the Anthology DVD, there is a remix of alive called the Rapscallion Remix. I just downloaded another remix off the hub called the "Mix Master Mike Remix." That's the one in the video "Alive (At Yauch's House)" on the Beastie Boys homepage video section. What's got me confused is that both remixes use the same main sample. There are small differences like during the chorus, and the Mix Master Mike version has the "All been leading up to this moment thing" at the beginning. But otherwise they seem almost exactly the same. What's the deal? Is one just a version of the other, or is this some bizarre coincidence?

I have seen the Rapscillion remix titled Mix Master Mike Remix. I can't remember if this alias was from a reliable source or not. My best guess is it was some foolish ACID contest tom foolery. Back when ACID Planet had the Alive remix contest a plethera of remixes were made using the same provided samples.

Right but would a remix from the ACID planet contest have made it onto the DVD?

Hey - those are both the same remix.

THat was also the OG video version of Alive.

I never cared too much for that mix. It was done by MMMike though, so I guess its okay.
