That's the same day as the big United for Peace and Justice protest here in NYC. Maybe they'll make one of their famous awards-show political statements. (y)

Good thought. Didn't notice that on the poster... Dave Chappelle is hilarious. We might still be out in the streets and not home to watch. I'll have to set the VCR. Then again, it'll probably re-air a million times. Either way I'll come here to get the skinny. :)

Think people, think: every year MTV gives what? Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement & a Bag of Potato Chips Award. Artist comes up on stage, MTV shows Video Montage, Artist never touches the mike, baby, they don't go near it. Beasties have done A LOT for MTV, especially in the 80's--hell, 90's, too. I say MTV's gonna do it NOW cuz aint none of us know if there's gonna be 2010 release on B-Boy timelines. Plus MTV fucked them bad on Sabotage in '94. (Ya'll remember MCA dressed as Hornblower protest on stage when they lost all of something like 6 nominations? Aiiiiii-yeeeeee!) I say bout fucking time MTV gives my B-Boys they proppas. Feel my truth.

I think they already won that award a few years back on the VMA's

For true? Oh, that was the year I was captured by Sasquatch (we call him Bigfoot down here, lives in the Honey Island swamp. Come spend some tourist money and go see Bayou Self.)

Well Hell, GIVE IT TO THEM A-FUCKING-GAIN!!!!!!!!! Make up for MTV shutting out Ch-Check It Out. How many times suck-up MTV gave Super Freak Michael Jackson "made up" awards for just showing up. Look at the pure-de-crap they nominated for Video of the Year, please, Britney in Toxic? Usher's Yeah? D12 My Band????? Sick, Sack, SUCK. Jay Z & Outkast only 2 belong in that category...Ch-Check It Out should'a made it 3.

I'm gonna come out of my shell soon, really start speaking my mind. Watch out!

Okay, no award, no performance...Oh, no, it can't be--don't tell me they're showing up as un-nominated, non-performing presenters? That's what washes up on the beach on Grand Isle during low tide! Someone please, I beg of you, assure me it hasn't come to this....

wow I think I saw that ad in a magazine and I never even noticed it said their name on it.....though that's not usually something I pay attention too

I actually saw this on Vh1.com http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1490332/08182004/beastie_boys.jhtml

"The list of presenters for the MTV Video Music Awards just got longer — 7 feet and 1 inch longer, to be exact.Shaquille O'Neal joins Brandy, Nick Lachey, Shakira, Evanescence's Amy Lee, Mase, Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp, Omarion and Queen Latifah in the latest crop of celebrities confirmed to take the stage as presenters at the 2004 VMAs...."

wouldn't it be cool if they presented Jay-Z with an award for 99 problems and Rick comes up also. Then Rick Remixes Shazaam for their final single? Think this could happen? I just read a magazine article where Russel Simmons interviewed the Beastie Boys last month. Is it coming full circle?

Hmm... has LL Cool J received the Video Vanguard yet? Adrock's credited as the one who discovered him...

... or maybe MCA/Nathanial Hornblower will do another bumrush as a 10-year anniversary thing. :-P

well finally something good comes out of living in miami! my friend wants to go hang out on south beach that weekend to see celebrities and such, and i wasn't all that excited to go but now that i know the beastie boys will be around, i'll definitely be looking like crazy. i don't know that they'd be hanging out on the streets and such, but you never know. hopefully i'll run into them.

otherwise any appearance will be useless...

looking for a speech and a standing ovation!!

hope they're not going to present any specific award: I saw the nominations and any category is interesting me.
