View Full Version : Cruel, Cruel Mash-Up (But it has 80's stuff!)

Today, I take the Piff Dingy (sp?) approach to music: Take something and loop the hell out of it for an entire song. No fun samples or cooky tie-ins, just repetitive madness.

I pick one of my usual victims, "Triple Trouble."

The main (and only) beat/sample/anything is Bananarama's 1984 hit "Cruel Summer." The recognizable sound is played over, and over, and over, then it changes into some other part of the song, then to another, then back to the area we began with. Not really creative or anything; I did it because it sounded cute.

I paid attention to the "beat" thing, and after a few listens, I reckon the vocals match with the sounds.

Now, in the part where the song goes "Bam! Super-nature goddamn..." the song kinda veers off, and I need your advice: Should I omit that sample and stick to the 1st sample?

If that makes any sense, of course.

Anyhoo, you'll like it. It's a proven fact that most anthropods love the 80s.

Warning! Shameless plug ahead!:

And while you're here, do tell if you liked the "improved" Intergalactic latin thingy, which was a slighty-altered form of the original unlistenable version.

I'll just exploit this post for all it's worth:

Um what? Its not matching... The BPM on the loop is 110 and so is the TTrouble.

I like it but you need to match it up correctly. Good luck young jedi.

So nobody found either of these enjoyable? Harsh.

I liked it, just needed to match the lyrics up with the beat better.

Good luck.

Constructive criticism.

If Triple Trouble was an old lady, then your beat would be an olympic sprinter. Fix that mess. As of now, it has potential, but I'm seeing the ugly...

There's nothing wrong with your tempos, you just need to match up the downbeats. It's in sync (tempo-wise), but when your downbeats are off it sounds like it's stumbling along. It should be a pretty minor adjustment.

Good luck young jedi.

I believe a young Jedi is called a Padawan.

I believe a Jedi in training is a padawan. A young jedi would be a Jedi Knight, and a Jedi Master is off da heezy and stuff...

Umm...the heck's a downbeat?

How do I explain this.... If you are tapping your foot to the 4/4 beat, for every beat your foot goes down and up. When your foot goes down (i.e. the first half of the beat) that is the downbeat.

As a whole, your idea is not so bad - i mean 80's sound, but beat and acapella going separately...You need to synchronize all in your mix...

This forum would benefit from a sticky explaining basic terms and the necessary programs a newbie would need... just sayin', is all.

Anyhoo, is the Intergalactic one better than the previous one? I found it superior to the "Original" one.

Yeah I was thinking about something like this. There are so many different programs and methods you could use though. Its just such a broad topic. I'd be down to contribute to something like this if a few other people were interested in getting invloved. I've been using Acid since the first version came out in 1998. You can send me an message via aim if you want. Don't know how helpful I can be but I can try.
