The best pancakes are made with the instant mix from Western Family. It's just the cheap store brand at Linn's Foods, which may be a mormon chain or something (they have them in and around southern Utah as far as I know).
These pancakes are better than any restaurant, or any homemade ones that I've had. All other pancake mixes (Krusteaz, Bisquick) always seem to have this stale taste to them, or maybe they use too much baking powder or baking soda and that's what I'm tasting. And from Denny's or IHOP or whatever, they are too thin and they soak up syrup and butter too fast.
But this Western Family stuff, you add equal parts water and milk and it tastes amazing man. Well you need to cook it first.
