....this is the latest painting. It's about 80% there; I have to clean up a couple things, the guy's shirt needs to be painted and the area under the table, but you'll at least get the idea....

Is that a limp, out of focus breast in the foreground?

That's kind of what it looks like, yeah. But, no -- it's an elbow and forearm out of focus. I have to clean the lines a bit more, but you still wouldn't necessarily know what it was, except, as you guessed, flesh.

I like it.

I'm going to start painting soon. When I get my thumb out.

Awww..... she's just studying pretty intensely. That girl was so sexy; I wish I'd gotten a decent photo of her face.

Thanks. I think it's coming along well. I expected to get some negative comments, but everyone's being so politely quiet... :D

Is that her reflection in the window? Seems a little too clear to be a window reflection. Also, are we going to get more than a giant elbow from the other person?

Great work, as always. You're an artiste!

...I think you're seeing the face of the man who was sharing her table. Older guy with jowls and glasses? It'll be a bit more clear when I paint the rest of his shirt in.

I was looking at the giant elbow problem last night and think that, once again, I went for degree of difficulty rather than what I can actually execute. So I might put in a sweatshirt cuff or something -- you know, when the sweatshirt sleeve is pushed up to the elbow? -- and maybe that will help people read what it's supposed to be. But my original intention was that it be as unreadable as the photo I used, in which you really can't tell what it is at all.

Artistic doubts are fun! :D

I think it is freaking dope

I love your portraits that arent the traditional full or 3/4 profile

always from the back or extreme side

one thing

her hair has far too much volume at the crown
its almost distracting

just a thought anyways

cant wait to see it finished!

Thanks, Heiress -- that's cool.

Here's a side-by-side, so you have an idea of what I'm shooting for. The crown is too high -- holy crap! it's too high. Doubleplusthanks!

There's no denying the talent you're supplyin'.

Okay, sorry, but it sounded funny. Good job, sir. Much respect stemming from this end of the keyboarded world.

this may seem rude, but why did you leave the arm in the painting? I don't think it really adds anything to it and it distracts from the girl. the arm does kind of look like a breast right now. maybe you should add a nipple and go with that

I've sold probably.... ten paintings? Something like that. Two of them were commissions.

Here's some other stuff. I won't bother with my abstract stuff, because it doesn't translate to digital well at all.

That's not rude.

I left it in because part of the series I'm working on is how we catch glimpses of people or things that strike us; sometimes I get a great glimpse of a girl past my buddy's ear, for instance, and he's sort of blocking her, and maybe that's part of the moment; I don't know. In this case, it was Chris' elbow. :D

I was thinking about adding the cuff of a sweatshirt pushed to his elbow, but I think I'll just finish the elbow the way I want it to be and let it go at that. It's funny, but the folks who have seen it in person see the elbow/breastshape thing and immeiately go past it (they say) to the girl, forgetting the shape is even there. I think that's part of how we see things (we edit out telephone wires and such), so maybe it's more successful than I think.

You guys are really encouraging. thanks for that!

The blinds should look really cool once I add in all the little flares of light on the left hand side.
