i'm very disappointed........but.........the instruments are back......starting with the US tour.........rehearsals start tomorrow with: money mark, bobo and awol tomorrow in l.a. ..........guess they can't handle an all rap tour at 1.5 hrs/per show.......whatever man.........

What the fuck?
Did you hear this from your source who told you the "fila suits" bs?

I was looking forward to an all hip hop set....but seeing the old crew (bobo and money mark) together is cool with me

yes this is from my source and the 'fila suits' line was not bs.........it's definitely in a track that came from the TT5B sessions.......a b*side perhaps or a cut that didn't make the album........

i really reallr really really hope this is true.

cj hood's been known to come through with the exclusive info, i cant recall most of it off the top of my head but i would say the most notable was when he said the album would be all hip-hop no instruments and would have more cursing than usual way before anyone had any idea how the album was gonna be like . so hopefully c.j. hood continues to be right.

Wow....thanks for the scoop CJ.

I enjoy the hip hop songs more than instrumentals and hard core stuff...but i'm glad if they pull out the instruments for the tour. It will give more texture and give us more flavor. This may push the set closer to the 2 hour mark.

Thanks CJ

They can play what ever they like & it will be worth experiencing. Though I would like to see the instruments coming out. A band of their long standing should be able to knock out a set of 2 hours & please everyone.
To be honest I would be happy whatever as long as they play England (sooner rather than later) & I get a ticket (or 2)!!

Thanks for the info cj! I have been around this board for a long ass time. In the 5 years I have been visiting the boards, I have always found your news, before news, to be the most precise.

Thanks again!

For me personally a all rap show is not so impressive, i prefer to see a whole band not just 3 mc's and a DJ, it's just not "it"

huh? they usually play stuff from everything... LTI gets the least with probably 'slow and low' and maybe another couple. but surely, they'll play some PB. don't worry. every time i've seen them, they play a good mix... and i don't think there's ever been a show where i wished they would've played something else. they usually hit everything.

I saw them twice in June and they didnt play one track off of PB. It was a little disapointing. But, the track selection was tight. At the DC show, 'Open Letter to NYC' was off the hook.

I send an email to moneymark.com and i asked them if it was true and they told me it was true. Only one difference he told Alfredo Ortiz is on the team and not Eric Bobo.

First off I ain't hatin.. If it turns out to be true then so be it.. I would rather hear some old school shit than Song for the fuckin' Man(the most offensive B-Boys song EVER IMO)...I can't justify paying money to see a show I pretty much saw in '99...If they had a stack of new instrumentals then perhaps, but fuck...This is the "Hip-Hop frame of mind"?......How could Yauch drop a line about not makin hip-hop B and then bust out wit 'Tough Guy'?...Shit I'm just a hater....Sorry all concerned...It was a tough couple of days....NO INSTRUMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This news has made me really happy. I've never gotten to see them before at all, and cursed myself for not being able to see them during the Hello Nasty tour. I was afraid I might never get to hear Sabotage or Gratitude live, so this is GREAT NEWS for me. (y) I also hope they pull out some stuff like Live at PJ's or the live instrument version of Paul Revere, which was the shit.

I'm cool with whatever the band want to do. They could come out with accordions and flutes, and I'd still have fun.

No worries here.

Agreed. And fuck Money Mark. (I certainly hope he's not opening for them. Why don't they release official word of the opening act(s), anyway?) I want to hear hip hop, dammit!

No disrespect to their endevors with instruments, but I think it weakens the shows. I'm a Beastie Boys fan first and foremost becuase of their hip hop. Go scream at a wall in the shower...

Still, an all hip hop show does have it's merits...

fuck money mark??? wtf hes great, the beasties boys are way better with a band, only rap sucks, the variety the beasties have is the best and they should deo that live rap, hardcore and instrumentals.

and deffinatly does not weaken the show when they have instruments its even better, only a DJ set is weaker

yo wouldn't it be wicked if one of the reasons they pull out the instruments is for a live cd or dvd or something? cos they wouldn't have filmed/recorded one if it was all hip hop...cos it would be the boys live but probably not how they'd want to put it out, if you get what i mean.

this kinda concerns me a bit tho, cos i thought they'd tour for a while, all straight up hip hop, put out an open letter and tidy up the TT5B campaign.

Then i figured they'd go back to the instruments, and perhaps if we were lucky start work on a follow up album. If they go back to the instruments now...well maybe they'll be winding things down for ages.

That's just my view anyhow!
