This is my first remix. It was inspired by the Shake Your Rump [Caesar Vigilante Remix]. It is the song from Kill Bill 1, when Lucy Liu is walking into the House of the Blue Lotus, combined with Sure Shot, and some tidbits from other Beasties songs. It may sound like a straight-up mash, but in fact there was a lot of cutting and mixing involved in shortening the original song, while still maintaining the musical flow. I made it with Sound Forge 7.0, which my brother just got.

sorry that it's soundclick guys, I don't have a site of my own to host it on.
Oh yeah, and you may not think "it's a musical masterpiece" (You'll get it if you listen, but I just thought that it was a pretty funny thing to include). Comments please, even if you think it's a musical POS.

shit. I guess it takes 24 hours (You can tell I've never used SoundClick before). Everyone, just wait until about 24 hrs. after my first post. Also, are they serious about the "no remixes" policy? I've seen a lot of remixes on there, so I figured it was one of those "jay-walking" rules that no one cares about.

I have my remixes in soundclick too, they passed the "test" with clear long samples from other artists, I just put a note with the name of the tracks sampled and the artistīs name

Nicely executed. All in sync etc. But to be honest it doesn't do anything surprising or too interesting. Maybe coz I know both songs so well.
I ain't hating, just being honest. I'm just finding too many mash-ups being a little too straight forward.
Anyway, as I said, well executed... oh and boost them vocals coz they are being drowned out the mix by the intrumental. But for your first remix... very good going (y)

Is there any easy way to do that? I'm pretty sure I could have constructed this mix in a less sloppy manner, but the saved file won't let me undo the vocal additions. I didn't make instrumental and vocal tracks separately, I just grafted each verse on individually, so I'm not sure how to crank the vocals up. I do agree, though, that they could definitely be a bit louder. Is there a EQ Filter I can put on there to make the vocals seem more accentuated or something, or am I just screwed because of the way I put it together?

Hmm maybe not... but for future reference, when constructing music in an wave editor such as soundforge, make sure you mix a few test mixes and get feedback from others before committing to the mix. After working on a mix for a long period of time your ears will grow tired.. you probably won't notice it... but if you ever work on a mix and then leave it until the next day.... you'll find sometimes you'll hear stuff (or not) that were not there the night before... i.e the vocals being to low etc.

No, man, it was all in SoundForge. Unless you count WAV-MP3 conversion, which I did in a different program.
Thanks, guys, for the comments.
