I'm a hair product ho, with like 8 different sets of shampoos and conditioners, and all kinds of various products.

Here's what I used today to make my straight hair look somewhat curly/messy:

My shampoo today:

And today's conditioner:

What's your favorite product?

I have some blue bottles. My hairdresser was almost surprised when I told her I use conditioner. She said that men don't do that a lot.

my brother's girlfriend is obsessed with her dreads

I swear she re-waxes them atleast once a day, ritualistic that one

I used to be a hair product whore
working in a drugstore and getting a discount on purchases will do that to yah
I swear i have a whole gallon bucket of hair shit
but since my hair started falling out rapidly two months ago I barely touch, comb, spray, hell even wash it anymore

Im rapidly forming dreads but Ill probably cut it all off pretty soon

its just getting too thin to keep long anymore

:(

Heiress:

I've had that happen before; stress.

Getting your hair trimmed a little will help. And since it's super long, it seems like way more is coming out, when really, it's about the same as what you would normally lose and not even notice when your hair is much shorter.

Im pretty sure its not stress-related because hair loss occurs six months after the initial stress and I was feeling fine this past december

I believe its because i have been on the strongest birth control pill on the market for the past three years
it made my estrogen levels steadily climb and depleted all progesterone in my system
my doctor didnt believe me that I was losing my hair

I finally found a pharmacist who had two other customers on the same birth control and the same thing happend to them

so now im on an all natural progesterone cream derived from wild yams that will hopefully help before Im bald or something

Ive probably lost about 30% of my hair in the past two months

thank god I had a thick ass bulk of it to begin with

Ive never thought of myself as a superficial person but this shit is wreaking complete havoc with my self-esteem

I dont suppose ending each shower bawling in the bottom of the tub is very healthy either

:(

surely the damage isn't permanent?

how could they let such a dangerous product on the market?

i'm sorry heiress. even if you lost all your hair you'd still be crazy beautiful to me and so many others.

oh lord, that's terrible. my poor maple baby :(

i'm about to go on the strong dose estrogen pill myself...now i'm worried :(

ps heiress where do you get your progesterone cream? we sell it at my store for $26 plus tax for 4 ounces...i'd be more than willing to send you some if it's cheaper for you than what you get it for <3

I haven't known a day without stress for the past 3 years, so I had no idea of the time frame for stress/hair loss. I'm very, very sorry. :( :( :( I don't even know what to say, other than your beauty is more than just your hair, and you are loved by me and countless others on and away from this MB. I would totally make out with you, with 30% less hair or 100% less. :)

thanks bobby and beth
really, you guys rule

no, i was told it wouldnt be permanent
apparently it WILL grow back
but it just hasnt stopped is all and it is very very un-nerving seeing as this is the third month straight

the pill I was taking isnt even FDA approved in that states I dont think...
anyways it is called Diane-35 and it is the devil if you stay on it long term

and cosmo dude that is a wonderful offer
really it is
my mom is paying for my cream right now because she is taking the same thing as a natural treatment for menopause symptoms
I pay like 55 bucks for a small container of the stuff which isnt too bad I suppose
seeing as i paid 35 dollars a month for the pill
:/

Excellent choice on the Alterna HEMP, Beth. That's what I used yesterday. This is what I used today (I like to change it up):

Basically, I just go for Edge -- whatever's on sale, as long as it isn't something really against my skin type. (y)

Grapeseed oil 16 oz for $4.79 and you only need enough to oil your hands with. It also prevents food from sticking to pans.

^i use that for cooking and either almond or jojoba (when it's on sale) for my body. almond oil's cheap, so i use that all over and as an eye makeup remover. jojoba is nicer but more expensive, so i use that on my scalp and face if i need it. the great thing about jojoba is it's practically identical to your skin's own sebum (the oil it naturally produces), so it doesn't produce more when it's on and it's readily absorbed.

Well, sometimes I use this http://www.humannaturals.nl/catalog/images/pam.jpg

or http://www.metstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/03/crisco-shortening.jpg - but only in the winter

If I'm going somewhere special I might comb through a little http://www.motorage.com/motorage/data/product/motorage/322005/173861/HAP0805_SPPennz_medium.jpg

My hair is hard to untangle because it's going in and out of Ss and it's long, so this leave-in spray is a life-saver:
http://mp.hairboutique.com/_images/products/philip_pelusi_lite_conditioner_300ml_80w.jpg

I've been using Philip Pelusi products for ~20 years. He used to cut my hair. His shampoos and conditioners are nice as well as that ^^^ spray, although I couldn't find an image of my favorite one. These are the old style for the bottles--the new bottles are taller and leaner and more girlie looking.
