Beasties on Futurama

There was an episode of Futurama featuring the Beastie Boys on Sky One this afternoon. It's the one where Bender joins a new religion then goes to Robot Hell, managed by Beelzebot. It will be repeated later today on Sky One Mix at 6:30 pm (GMT)

This episode really cracked me up. Bender does a robot drug called "Jacking On". Bender goes into the bathroom in this one part and Lila knocks on the door and asks "Bender, are you jacking on in there?"

I love that part.

Oh yea the Beasties were somewhere in there im not really sure....

I was watching a Futurama rerun on Teletoon the other day.
It was the one where the Harlem Globetrotters come to earth and challenge Fry and the gang to a game of basketball..
Fry's gang loses a team member and Fry says "ooh ooh put me in, I want to show Leela my skills!"
the professor replies "do said skills pay the bills?"
or something like that anyway, just picked up a reference.

i thought that was just a coincidence, but on the commentary the guy who does the voice of bender mentions that its a b-boys reference.

by the way if you have the dvd - and you listen to the director's commentary on that episode it talks about how MCA's voice was'nt in it and the parts where you do hear him it's adrock doing MCA's voice. Also they said they asked them to sing fight for your right - I guess for the acapella scene and they said no.the directors/creators of the show said they were huge beastie fans and were thrilled that they got them to do the episode. It's also funny to play that episode in spanish and french - using the dvd language options - of course it's not the beasties voices speaking in those languages- just voice over actors filling in - but funny to watch just the same.

the best comments (besides the ones made by the beasties themselves) were:

Leela: "Impressive..they're busting mad rhymes with an 80% success rate."
Bender: "I believe that qualifies as ill .. at least from a technical stand point."

I saw it in Italy too, but songs were tranlated too = what a terrible mistake, it was horrible for Beastie fans!
