San Francisco - general admission tickets still available to second show.

Atlanta still has seats in the lower level.

LA, Long Beach, Seattle, Philli have seats in the upper level... but some are in the lower rows of the upper levels.

The album was at #37 on the charts a few weeks ago, who knows where it is now.

I've got my tickets, and I'll have a blast, but I wonder if they shouldn't be playing in slightly smaller venues.

There are a quite a few bands having problems with ticket sales for whatever reason. Here where I am at in the last week Snoop canceled for low ticket sales (under 1000) Cyndi Lauper canceled and Metallica only sold a little over 7000 in a 12200 seat arena. Also Lollapalooza cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

In my opinion this may be why they are booking shows one at a time. They are closely watching ticket sales to see if they need slightly smaller venues.

When CYH came out they toured twice and each time did smaller venues.

To be honest I would love to see them hit the small venues again. Saw the CYH tour at a ballroom that had 1000 ga tix only. It was crazy.

hey, maybe the slower ticket sales will convince them to get out of the arena thing and back to the smaller venues! (y)

haha - that is exactly what i thought (somebody asked why they did not announce like 3 nyc shows all at once).. in 95 they completly sold out
the garden in like something crazy like 15 mins.. same with seattle in
98.. but not this time around.. maybe msg but single tickets in good sections are still available for that one..

in todays times the concert industy is pretty hurting and to play multiple
shows in the same area to half full arenas is suicide for the artist.

i am seeing them in sf both night and am glad they are playing a 5-8k seat
places.. even though i would prefer some 3k seat places.. looking back
i would have killed to see some CYH shows..

The thing I loved about CYH (at least where I saw them) was that it was so basic. Them the instruments and an empty stage. No elaborate light or stage show. Kind of like seeing a local band at a club...just much better.

the CYH shows i saw in new orleans were 4K capacity. The CYH show in Houston was probably about 2k capacity.

i jealous you are seeing them twice without even having to travel. have fun!!!

thats sick. i just missed out being really into them to see the toronto show
in fall 92. in spring 92 they were *supposed* to play my schools spring fest
but did not because they were rehearsing their instruments. they also
played a club here in sf (read on beastie mania) in 92 right before CYH that
only held probably 200 people...

I am in shock they are playing 2 sf shows. my friends thought i was nuts
that i got tickets for both shows. they don't understand. the worst is i
blew off a wedding in portland for the shows that weekend because previously
it was rumored they were playing sf on that saturday. now i wish i went to
portland to see the seattle show.. 3 shows in 4 days would be madness..

some people are bummed that the record did not sell too well. fuck.. i
wished it tanked (haha) so they would play theaters instead and have
all die hard fans their ..

good thread.....i was gonna start a similiar one......i agree with my man Laver......as far as the general public goes, the new album buzz is dead.....their original fan base will be there.......but they need to jumpstart the 'buzz' before the tour starts.........btw......is anyone going to the philly show........pm me!

Very true about the album buzz being dead. To be honest I cant remember the last time I heard one of the new songs on our local radio station. Of course still hearing Girls, Fight For Your Right and Brass Monkey on a daily basis, but nothing new.

that is the way it should be.. i remember everybody dissing me pre 'sabotage'
and then after that came out every frat boy and posuer tough guy was
soooo into the boys.. and it showed in the 95/95 and HN tours. i almost
died in the crowd in toronto 98 from some dumb ass frat type fighting..

im glad the buzz is dead actually because i like them for their albums.. not
the one hit single that is on the radio..

im thinking of taking a week off and doing a 'west coast tour' for most of
their shows.. am i insane????

the whole industry is whacked and is gonna need to make some changes within the next year....

but yea, i agree...should have played SOME smaller venues. also, the fall is a rough time of the year to tour.

i know.. im toying with the idea of going down south and seeing some shows.
at least this tour i can still get tickets (even if shitty ones).. the funding
issue is a little tight.. maybe.. if i was super bling i would try to fly to some
shows.. my friend in NYC just happens to be back here for the MSG show which
sux.. i was goiong to get a plane ticket and msg ticket...

my best beastie travel memory was in 1998.. i was in ohio and microsoft
invited me for the weekend to visit as a prospective hire. I was going to
decline and asked them to fly me out a day early to see a 'freind'.. after
waiting in line for like 4 hours to get one of the 100 or so seats released that
day i was glad i made that trip..

i agree...i would think when the tour gets kicked off that a "natural" buzz would start. They're playin tomorrow in miami and making an appearance on the vma's.

here in chicago they are still getting very good airplay on the radio and we don't even have a scheduled concert. :(

Let's not forget all the radio station shows / festivals they did when the album came out in June and July. Those who saw them at those shows might feel they've already got their Beastie fix in, so why pay more money to see them again in such a short period of time? Those would be the more casual fans, not you or I.

the idea of seeing the beasties in a smaller venue gives me thrills of excitement up and down my spine. if you are only going to sell 3,000 tickets why book a 6,000 capacity arena? why not maximize the band's (record company's) profit and give the real fans who know more than 3 beastie's title's what they really want: an intense, intimate experience where they can feel that they have truly made contact with the greatest band on earth. seems like a simple solution to the nagging problem of low ticket sales and it seems to be what most people here are saying.

now whether it is worth it to the powers that be to bother arranging a tour of this type remains to be seen. if the concert industry in general is ailing why not evolve into a leaner, meaner machine for the time being? why not have the beastie boys lead the way? it seems to me if you have smaller, intense shows this year then next year the "buzz" generated by these shows will lead to more people trying to purchase tickets in advance. nothing creates demand like a sold out show.

"i say why not a beastie revolution?"

One word for poor ticket sales...TICKETMASTER.

They have drained the life out of tickets with their overpriced extra charges.

Honestly,... Its slumping ticket sales accross the board...

Remember though.. before the hello nasty tour, Intergalactic was getting heavy rotation on mtv and radio... Hello nasty sold more than 5 million.....TT5B is barely platinum......

yes, but you get to learn the official concert dates on ticketmaster well before you do on beastieboys.com, so you are at least getting something for those extra fees, information ( i am saying this tounge in cheek)

:D
