Okay folks, sorry it's so late and I don't care if you already know everything about the show, I have to share.
Sunday, my hangover gave way to the flu and I was sick all day Monday, but Saturday, ohhh Saturday.
Best night of my life.
13th person through the door, 1st person on the dance floor, wifey and I on the rail from 10:15 on.
De La was just okay, but the DJ between the sets got the crowd hype.
The stage was tiny! I was one foot away!
MMM came out and started to cut, then we saw Hurra at the side of the stage. We shouted out to him and he gave me a wave.
Root Down was the starter and that beat sounded noice.
Got high 5s from MCA first, then Mike D.
When the boys were about to play Time to Get ill, I asked Adrock if he knew what time it is and he nodded at me.
When Open Letter Came on, I slowed my party a little and just started bobbing with a peace sign up in the air. MCA saw me and gave me a nod of approval!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, no "oh wait, hold up, bring the beat back" stuff. On point, the WHOLE DAMN SHOW. NO STOPPING, JUST POPPING. Got an extra song out of the encore when MMM dropped So whatcha want unexpectedly. Mike D gave him a dirty look after he dropped it after Intergalactic.
Saw Jimmy Fallon entering the show and ended up right next to him on the sidewalk as we walked out!!!!!
Said, "hey jimmy, that was the best show ever!!!"
"I agree" he said and started walking away.
Then he turns back after a few steps and says, "hey! I saw you! UP front with the shades on!" Then he gives me the thumbs up and gets in his car!
I've got more to share in more detail but I've got work to do.
This was the best, most, energetic set I've ever heard them do and did I mention.
ONE FOOT AWAY FROM THE STAGE ALL NIGHTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????!!!!! !!!!!!11

Understand folks, this was the perfect venue! You have had dreams of being in my shoes. Not to mention, I liked the over 21 crowd. Everyone was cool, at least up front, and was really into the show. The boys were feeding off the energy and were into it the whole time.
After being a dedicated fan for quite some time, this was the icing on the cake for me. I really feel like I connected with the band. At the very least, they could tell how much I was feeling them. I kept yelling things like, "Better than ever!!!" and "Thank you so much!" and I know they heard me.
I literally had tears when the first song came on. It was super hype when on Intergalactic it went "beatsie boys known to let the beat....." MMMMMdrop...... and then just like in las Vegas. Adrock drops into his last part with no music, just acapella. Chillllllllllssssssss.
Leading up to the boys was amazing because I was getting a good buzz and dancing with my wife and some friends I made at the show, then I would just pause and my jaw would drop and I'd say, "The beastie boys are gonna be right there" and I'd touch the stage.
Not to mention, the stage front was so small that if you were up there you were really intimate with the band.
Also, my wife saw them for the first time and she was on the rail with a hand in the air the whole time.
I will never forget that night, but my worry is that I'll never be as excited about anything again in my life. Really folks, it was magnificent.
And to think, if I didn't mention wifey, you'd probably think I was a 14 year old girl judging by the tone of this post.
Funny, the boys can make a 27 year old father of two act this way!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully, when I'm at the Lauderdale show in the front row again, the boys will recognize me from my whack ass shades that I was sporting at Crobar.
And in case your wondering, I'm 99.9% sure this show will never be on MTV. You missed it!
Wow, sounds awesome!! I'm glad you had a great time. That got me so excited about seeing them at MSG. :D Ha, except i don't have those front row seats. I'm sure it'll be amazing anyway.

Great story, pshabi. Thanks for sharing.
I'm curious. What did it take to be frontrail? A lot of people are going to think you were just lucky to get that spot. I, however, suspect that it took a lot of effort to get that position. Am I right? How long did you queue? And under what conditions?

Got to the front door of the club at about 7:40 and they said the doors would open at 9:00. Surprisingly, there wasn't a soul at the club at 7:40. So, I went across the street and sat in the window of a bar and had a few drinks.
About an hour later we lined up with about 5 other die hards. Then the crowd came. We were the 13th people through because they let 10 tickets in and then 10 will calls, which we were.
As soon as we got in, it was kind of strange. There was a bar and right behind it was the dance floor and the stage. It felt like a middle school dance. No one, would go on the floor. They were just milling around and having a few drinks. I stood right by the dance floor and at about 10:00 or so just walked up and got a spot on the rail.
I had to break the seal during De La but my wife did a great job of holding the spot. We had made friends with the other folks on the rail so they helped too.
Once the boys were on, we were locked in. The push from behind was pretty bad. I was actually leaning into the crowd behind me and they held me up.
The push subsided and we just partied with the boys. It seemed a lot longer than it was.
It wasn't luck to get the front rail, just an early arrival. It was a South Beach thing so people were "fashionably late". However, I must say that the crowd was great all around. it will be much harder to get up front at the arena shows I imagine.
Only one groper who was copping a feel on wifey's booty, but the security was great. They knew we were there to have a good time, because we were on the rail and talking to them all night. I just told one of the security guys what was going on about 2 songs into the show and next thing I know, some big bouncer is throwing the offender out.

Hey dude, did you happen to be a shorter fellow with spiked hair and a black shirt and ViP tix? If you were, then I was that guy with the wife who made room for you up on the rail. You said you were from Orlando, so I'd guess it was you! You can tell all of these suckas what they missed! E-mail me your pics pshabi@unityschool.com.

Why do you think it will never air on mtv?
Because it was never announced that it would be on TV and there were too few cameras for an MTV production.

That's a possibility, but it would've been hard to record. Hard to get the camera in too. Although I've never tried it and I'm sure people have their ways.

Someone earlier in this post said they saw a couple of video cameras...so it does exist somewhere.
Someone was also brave/smart enough to sneak a camera in to the NYAV show in NYC just a little over a month after Sept. 11...and was able to record both nights in Oct. '01. So it can be done...but i have never tried either...:)

Yeah, there were definitely at least 2 cameras recording the show. As I mentioned earlier, I saw one guy upstairs, 5 yards down from Jimmy Fallon recording, and then a camera set up on a tripod right near a stack of speakers and the soundboard. The camera on the tripod was probably someone from Crobar or the Beastie camp recording. The upstairs guy was just lucky enough to be in the vip area and was probably allowed in with the camera. I had my video camera ready to go, but I saw they were using metal detectors at the door, so I didn't even bother trying to get in with it.

Pshabi, was that you who tried to give Mike D a bracelet or something. Remember someone handed it to Adrock & he tried to give it to Mike, but Mike wouldn't take it. That was from the front row to the left, I was about 4 people deep, in the center. Right where the fuckin' clown was that started crowd surfing during Root Down.
Just wanted to mention that Adrock had trouble with Time to Get Ill again. He didn't think he remembered the lyrics at the Vegas $2 Bill show, and at Crobar the other night, he had to ask MCA for some help "Lines, Lines!" As for Mike's Sasquatch dance, Adrock was egging him on, getting the crowd to chear for Mike's dance.
Luckily MMM dropped Whatcha Want on us, they were ready to call it quits, and he started the intro. Glad the Boys stuck it out and did the song. It was a great night, a lot of fun.
As for Jimmy F. yeah he was diggin' it, was enjoying himself. But I didn't really care what he was up to while the Beastie's were on stage.

I was in the front row as well...front and center...was actually standing on rail the the whole time, have bruises from head to toe...but completely and absolutely worth it. I agree that I may never be so excited for another show all my life, I nearly passed out when I saw how small and close the stage was. Alls I wanted was to hear Root Down, and when they came out and opened with that I nearly cried like a baby. This was the Best Show Ever, no concert will ever compare. If anyone has some good pics, please send them to me a Trey46@hotmail.com. My camera was confiscated at the door, so I have no original shots...just the satisfaction of knowing that I got handshakes from all the boys, I almost didn't want to wash my hand. That was definately my greastest Miami night thus far, surrounded by great people, the crowd was awesome, the boys were even better!! Words cannot explain!!

I did not give Mike that gift, but he was acting quite strange when Adam tried to give it to him.
