The reference is the 'not the heat / humidity' line.
Well it's not a reference but the beasties have used that line recently on stickers and t-shirts.

They used it to make fun of middle class middle aged people who stand around sipping wine and saying annoying phrases like that to try and look clever. The comic basically demonstrates it as if Garfield is a normal person, and the fish is one of these annoying metrosexual pussy boys. Except Garfield eats the fish.
