I posted this question in the thread for my Two Face remix, but I wanted it to get more exposure, so here it is. My next remix has all original musical lines, and I have been putting them in with my guitar, but it sounds kind of crappy, and human input makes it inevitably not perfectly on time. I don't have a midi keyboard, but I want to find some way to digitally write the musical lines, so that I don't have to put them in with the guitar. Can anyone help me with this?

The software I use (FL Studio) lets you write/draw/program notes with your mouse, note for note, but even more, it lets you use your "qwerty" keyboard to to play in and record on the fly... the keyboard can also be used to audition samples and what not.
There is also small applications that let you use your "qwerty" keyboard to play in other software such as Reason.... but I forget it's name.
I found FL Studio to be a lifesaver, as it lets me think up a riff in my head and then program it note for note in it's sequencer. No need for a midi keyboard here.... although I do have one.

does the trial version let you save stuff, or not? I'm not really in the market for a $100 program. Anyway, thanks for the tip.

No saves in demo I'm affriad.
There are a few free apps which I mentioned here (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=18164&highlight=studio)
But FL is worth it... if anything, it is by far underpriced.
