It was only a matter of time: Russia's Putin announced he'll fight terrorists all over the world, wherever they may be. Sounds good, in a GWB, "fighting the good fight" sort of way.
However: Forget about how the Russian "Special forces" (and, boy, they are special) botched another hostage crisis , to the tune of 322 deaths. Do not think about how Russia turned Chechnya into a godawful wasteland, complete with faux "elections" and a puppet government. Do not obsess over the degree of corruption and dictatorial mass & mass media control in Russia. Do not ask yourself how every government nowadays terms freedom fighters and political activists "terrorist" in order to connect them to the big buzzwords Al-Quaida, 9/11, WMD.
Fight the terrorists, let people disappear overnight, skip the (show) trials. Lock them up, torture them to death, blow them up, their families and neighbours too. Who cares? If it's good enough for the US government to ignore world opinion and liberal BS like the Geneva convention, why should Russia, China, Israel, Turkey, Syria or Iran etc?
Or: They're killing people. Nobody really knows where and how and how many. But who says that YOU aren't next?

I think they are doing a fantastic job. I'm in contact with a few soldiers over there.
