State of emergency

Although the storm was downgraded to a category four - from a top level of five - as it hit the Cayman Islands, the destruction looks set to be extensive.

Many of the 45,000 residents were hiding in homes and shelters as the hurricane unleashed ferocious winds, rain and waves of up to 20ft (six metres) while cutting off power lines, uprooting trees and scattering debris.

No but really.

Saudi-backed site deplores 9/11

On the third anniversary of 9/11, two Saudi-financed newspapers have launched a website to give the Arab point of view on the attacks on America.

The site is in English and contains editorials and commentaries by Arab journalists on 9/11 and its aftermath.

The articles condemn acts of terror and dissociate the majority of Muslims and Arabs from 9/11.

They also say that even though most of the hijackers were Saudi, Saudi Arabia cannot be blamed for the attacks.

What they fail to mention is why Saudi Arabia cannot be blamed, o_O.
Hmm there seems to be some similarities here...... Terrorist blow up our buildings and we blow up random middle-eastern towns. We kill 3 year old terrorist children, terrorist fight back. Terrorist attack us we bomb the shit out of the place. It is on big fucking circle.

Some twit is going to try bombing the hurricane.

JACKSONVILLE — A South Florida businessman says he's going to try to reduce the strength of Hurricane Ivan by flying a Boeing 747 into the edge of the hurricane and dumping thousands of pounds of an absorbent material into the storm.

Peter Cordani of Jupiter plans to try to knock the storm down by one or two categories by dropping tons of powder that absorbs 3-thousand to 4-thousand times its weight.

Cordani is chief operating officer of Dyn-O-Mat, a company that sells environmental absorbent products such as mats for mechanics. He believes his product, SK1000, would cause a shearing action and a 15 degree cooling of the storm.

Cordani has been working on his plan for five years. He has assembled a team of experts, including two former astronauts, moonwalker Edgar Mitchell and Scott Mac Leod, who tested the lunar module.

Cordani is in contact talks to lease a 747 tanker from Evergreen Aviation in McMinnville, Oregon.
