I thought Amery Smith was rehearsing with them a few weeks ago...I was yearning for some hardcore last Saturday night once I spotted Adam's guitar and Yauch's bass to the side of the stage before the show started. I was telling my wife, Mike D is going to appear from behind the drums and burst into some hardcore songs. Never happened, glad to hear Gratitude though.

I am quite sure he is touring with them, at least to help on preparing the stage and stuff like that. He was with the beastie boys during the 2003 shows and then this year in Europe during the promo tour, even if he was not playing.

Maybe the hardcore stuff will start later this tour...? Maybe not...

He was in SF last night on the stage crew, didnt play any drums though.

he's going along the tour, though he's really in the stage crew.

Yeah......I think he is tech-ing for this tour. I had pizza with him in the Village after the show. I am not really knowlegable about who is the other guy drumming besides Mike D, but it's not Amery this tour I guess.

I saw Amery after the show and was like "Holy Shit!"

I hadn't seen him in years and years. Great guy.

The MSG show was fucking outstanding. :)

That "other guy" on drums is the one and only Alfredo Ortiz. He plays percussion with the band.

Oooopss....sorry. I guess I am a little behind the game. Last time I saw the Beastie's play was when they played with Rancid in Atlanta........uhhhh.....wow....no idea how many years ago that was.

at the philly show last night, when they split the crowd up for time to get ill, mca said "i've got amery smith on my side!"

Was he the scruffy looking one wearing the hunting-camoflage jacket in Philly, hanging with the short-haired Asian dude, each with laminates? Just curious.
