I'm ignorant. Can someone explain what Clearchannel is all about?

And that's just some of it. Clear Channel is basicly EVIL and I don't understand why the Boys chose to tour with them. Probably cause it's close to impossible NOT to tour with Clear Channel, but still, I'd expected them not to. Especialy if you know their take on the War and on The Man. I did buy a ticket, cause I didn't want to miss this tour, but I feel bad about buying it from CC.

Anyone know anything about the BB choice for CC? Have they said anything about it in interviews?

It's probably a record company thing. Just like the Copy Control.

Either way, I'd just get a ticket if I were you, it's not like they are going to shiver in their boots at the fact that you aren't going to the gig, and you'll be missing out on one HELL of a gig.

you know, the italian gig is tomorrow. i don't care that it will be one of the best show i could see, etc, cause I have to believe in the people on stage.

I have to believe in their souls, not only in their music.

things will never be the same for me about the Boys, sorry.

Guys, please, the next time think twice before choosing a so politic and pro-Bush live agency. Because if you don't, maybe the next times I'll be not alone thinking these things. And you'll play for Britney Spears' audience, and not for the people in this forum, the people who believe in something.

Thanx anyway to put my messagges on this forum, it's not easy to find so much freedom in a band officiale site.

Peace. :o

I respect that but you won't be left with many idols if something like this bothers you so much...

Do you think that the Articolo 31 are flawless? :)

Edit: much respect due for the fact that you stick to what you believe though :)

We have to think about the fact that we're not speaking about selling the music to commercial televisions, or having interview with stupid teen magazines. Or doing bad music, or music for the stupid masses.

Going on tour with Clear Channel is a politic decision, against all the stuff Beastie Boys have always fight for.

In USA Clear Channel is everything about communication, it decides most of the things people must do, music to listen, and - sigh- people to vote.

I don't want this situation in Italy. Till now CC italy is only live music, but who knows maybe one day it will have all the artists, all the radios, all the televisions, and the mass control, as in States is.

CC USA represents what is Berlusconi for us.

But we fight against Berlusconi, Beastie Boys "fight" for their right to party thank to CC, making a lot of money, and wanting to be consider anyway alternative idols.

I would like very very much to know the opinion of the band, because maybe i'm wrong.

ps. Articolo31 are shit. i like the name.

Being an American Citizen I must of not been home the day the clear channel rep knocked on my door telling me what I have to listen to.

...

Even Britney didn't tour with Clear Channel, and she got boycoted on their radio stations for that. Or so the story goes.

But I admire your decision. (y) I did buy my CC ticket. I have no regrets about that tough, 'cause the show realy was to good to miss. Would help me though if the Boys themselves could explain their point of view in all this.

You should have gone to the show they did in Villagio Globale in Rome. That was definetly a Clear Channel free event. 6 Euro entrance, in the squaters tent. Don't think they made a lot of publicity for that though. And they didn't have their intruments there either. Seemed to have been a nice show though: 11.17.04 Rome, Italy@Villagio Globale (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=38880)

It wasn't a proper tour though, it was a very limited press tour kind of thing.

I don't know how much this info is accurate (about BB and CC), but if it's true, I can only say one thing: SHAME ON U BB !!!
Talking is nothing, only acting counts !!! And if it's true, there's a huge difference between what you say and what you do, and that just sucks !!!

Maybe that's why you dont play "Fight For Your Right" on stage anymore ... ;)

Nice post, except your lazy ass shoulda typed out the names instead of
abbreviating like the the effort of typing "Beastie Boys and Clear Channel"
was too tiring. How the hell is Yauch, or any of the Beastie Boys gonna
click on a topic with such a vague listing?

It seems like they probably can't swing through the boot without making
some money for clear channel while doing it. If they could, they probably
would.
