Anyone else snag this remix album? DJ Green Lantern (aka the evil genious) threw together a whole pile of remixes and called his album "New York State of Mind." He remixed material from all the beastie albums, and it even includes new vocals from Busta Rhymes, Labba (whoever that is), M.O.P. (again, I'm drawing a blank), and Redman.

Anyways, if you know what suprnova.org is check for it there. If anyone has a clue what's up with this - lemme know. You could also probably find some of the remixes scattered through p2p programs, usually with the note (green mix) and a "-whoa" on the end.

Go to http://www.djgreenlantern.com. You can buy it there. The album has gotten mixed reviews from Beastie fans.

My bad - just noticed the huge thread about it...I checked beastiemania to see if they had anything about it, but didn't see it in the who's who etc.

You could also download the Fans remix cd from the link below compiled by DJ Skrilla. Free & many great remixes on there & prob better than the New York State Of Mind cd!!

Yeah. It's pretty good. It's not really the same thing as the Fan Remix album, because the Green Lantern is mostly mash-ups. Both are good.

Aren't they mostly mash-ups on the Fan remixes CD too? :)

What is a DJ if he can't scratch?

yeah.....i got it. pretty dope....some of his instrumental selections for remixing are kinda suspect.....they just don't go...off beat, ect....

but overall....pretty cool.

there are tons of copies all over the place here in Rochester- (Green lanterns hometown).

mash-ups rule supreme, btw.....

@lando's dad - I guess a bunch of them are. All the ones by you and Taco Zip, and I think URU-nitro are originals, right? I dunno, I haven't listened to all the stuff on the Fan Remix Album.

He scratches a little. Though mr. evil genius is no mix master, but who is? The Beasties do give the album their approval though.

I just have a few questions and statements.
1 what is this fan mixtape you are talking about? Is it any good?
2 Where do I obtain a copy?
All the live mixes are awesome too, I have three Las Vegas 4-25-03 Atlanta I don't remember the date and Red Rocks 9-10-04 all have MMM remixes and live instrumentals unbeleivable (y)
The Green lantern NY State of mind hasn't left my player since I got it. The root down mix is sick like malaria. And the hey ladies over Hypnotize nice touch.

you don't need to scratch to be a DJ it helps but not a requirement.
